At first I thought this was a 6-legged sheep and then I saw the outline of an extra ear. It's a lovely portrait, isn't it? via

Wonderful Setting
I trued to find out more about this photo to no avail. I want to see more! Hope you all had a nice Mother's Day. xo
My Mother May 1979
H A P P Y M O T H E R ' S D A Y
I took this photo of my mother in May of 1979 after pulling off the road to photograph her walking in this field of daisies. Miss her every day since she passed 9-1/2 years ago (1920-2012). Nobody loves you like your mother.
She lives in my heart.♡
Have a wonderful day celebrating our mothers.

Delightful Laundry Room
This laundry room is fabulous, isn't it?
I love the drying rack with a pulley.
The folding doors to conceal the washer and dryer are lovely too. I would like an outdoor clothes line too, just steps away. It was cold and rainy yesterday and today is a repeat. Missy and I are having a nice weekend regardless of the weather. I hope it improves for those of you celebrating Mother's Day tomorrow. Have a Happy! xo

Curved Stairs in An Old House
How wonderful to see these untouched curved stairs in an old house. via I mowed the front yesterday for the first time this year in order to beat the rain. I mowed the back a week ago. I didn't get up this morning until 8:30 and Missy was still fast asleep. There's nothing like a rainy day for sleeping in, is there? Especially after a hard day of outside work the day before. Not that Missy toiled, but standing at the window to supervise is a dog's work. All the landscapers are mowing in the rain because it's Friday. I like to schedule my mowings around the weather report. Today is going to be a lazy day. Enjoy yours too. xo

Missy is Back
Missy arrived late yesterday (Wednesday) and will be here until Monday morning. In this photo, she was giving me "that look" meaning it was time for me to put down my camera phone and start preparing her supper. Five o'clock is her favorite time of day. She's only supposed to be fed once daily, but I sneak in a light breakfast when I have her. She deserves a reward for being such an easy house guest. xo

Linen Storage in Hallway
Putting laundry away would be a pleasure if I had a built-in linen press like this one. I have seen many old homes with them and have always been envious. One house in particular comes to mind. It had fine linen storage in the entrance hall near the dining room and another on the second floor hall for bed and bath linens. Just.Wonderful. via

John Muir Quote
I have always loved artwork printed on dictionary pages and this one is extra special. This John Muir quote about the woods is printed on a "forest" dictionary page!🌲 Artwork found here.

A Library and A Kitchen
I've been saving this photo on my desktop for ages and I have no idea where I got it. I just liked this home library.
The same goes for this photo. I liked the low recessed radiator under a large window and the kitchen island with legs and wheels. This is probably a French kitchen based on the wonderful brass door hardware, right?
Hope you had a good weekend; I certainly did. Looking forward to a new series tonight on PBS Masterpiece called RIDLEY ROAD.

Black and White Bathroom
Simplicity at its best. I love it all, don't you.
You can never go wrong with a black and white bathroom. The black ceiling is an unexpected touch and I like it. via Have a great Sunday and enjoy the first day of May. xo

Vintage Photos: People with Cats
Such a distinguished pair.
Growing up together.
I love this one. The young boy with the Buster Brown haircut and his happy cat both have smiling eyes.
Just in time for "Caturday" tomorrow, lots of photos of people holding cats. Don't even start looking until you have some time because it's hard to stop. I just finished my first mowing of the back yard and it was fun to scroll and look at these vintage photos. There are lots of famous people with cats too. https://vintagecatsandpeople.tumblr.com/
🐈⬛ Enjoy 🐈
♡Have a great weekend♡

Blue & White Decorated Scallop Shells
Sharpied seashells by Barbara Moloney Callen via
I suppose you have to bleach the shells first. What is a "sharpied" shell? It is shell decorating with a fine tipped marker called a Sharpie. Who knew? I had to look it up. Aren't these shells gorgeous?

Arranging Lilacs
Will she be able to lift this arrangement when it's finished?
This is definitely flower arranging on steroids😂
Is there anything lovelier than lilacs in the spring?

AMAZING GRACE by Royal Scots Dragoon Guards 1972
I have never heard this rendition of Amazing Grace and it is wonderful. I love bagpipes and military band music as well. This recording topped the charts 50 years ago this month. Listen and enjoy.

Wonderful Toast Rack with Chickens
Isn't this the best toast rack ever?
I have several but they are plain silver ones.
I use them when making toast for a sandwich.
When the slices cool off, I apply mustard or mayo.
If you put a hot slice down flat the bread will sweat.
I honestly don't understand the British tradition of bringing lots of cold toasted bread to the table. In my mind, the hot toast should immediately be spread with butter so it will melt and be eaten right away. Ideally, while standing by the toaster waiting for the next batch to pop up.😂

A Jar of Tulips from A Friend
A friend dropped off a jar of tulips at my front door while I was out today. What a nice surprise to come home to.🌷
She planted 700 bulbs in raised beds. Sunday at Easter dinner she said she would drop some off for me. And she did.❤️

Spring Flowers for Good Friday
I moved my hellebore closer to the front door so she would be in more shade than she was previously.
My grape hyacinths are doing well in spite of my neglect.
I have been working outside for two straight days getting all my outside faucets, hoses, and hose reels in tip top shape and it hasn't been easy. I have worked with hack saws, plumbers wrenches, WD40, hose clamps, and various other tools. I had to replace several outlets by butchering old hoses. Most of my reels leaked underneath but not anymore. I've been wanting to do this for years and now I'm all set for years to come and I enjoyed giving them new life. That's another thing on my laundry list I can cross off and feel good about doing myself.

Tiny Duck with Giant Girlfriend
Love at first sight.
She loves him too.
Read the delightful article about a male green-winged teal (one of the smallest ducks in North America) who fell in love with a Mallard three times his size.
This story warms my heart.♡🦆
Love is love.

Perfect Summer Bedroom
Isn't this gorgeous? I love the ceiling.
I would prefer no rug under the bed though.
I would want to put my bare feet on a cool bare floor in the summer. The rug could go back for the winter.

Contest Winning Galley Kitchen
So nice. If you can't have a window over the sink, try to have one nearby. I love this bench under that grand tall window.

Get ready for a joy ride of great kitchens.
"Beating out bigger and grander rooms, this small and understated kitchen clinched the top spot at the very last moment! Whilst many of us dream of large sprawling kitchens with islands, dining tables and counter space galore, the reality, particularly in the city, is often a small room which can fit only the necessities. However, this project shows that even a small space can give you the kitchen of your dreams, all you need is well-made furniture and some clever design."

Ants have Aphid Friends: Who Knew?
“Ants and the Aphids” (© Prathamesh Ghadekar. All rights reserved.) Winner, Natural World.
Aphids and ants coexist in a symbiotic relationship: The aphids suck the sap of plants and then secrete a substance called honeydew that feeds the ants, who in turn protect the aphids from predators.
The above photo was the winner of the Natural World Category. See all the winners🏆 of this contest -- Smithsonian Magazine Announces Winners of Its 19th Annual Photo Contest Be sure and click on the link. Each and every photograph is absolutely wonderful. xo
