I love both views of this restored home owned by a movie star we all know. I'm not telling who until you fall in love with these two photos in Architectural Digest. The article is a reprint from 1993. Click here to read it and be amazed. I am usually disappointed in celebrity homes, but not this understated one.

Tour John Derian's Manhattan Home
An antique hatbox sits atop an 18th-century Italian armoire in the bedroom. The slipper chair is covered in an antique rug. On floor, 19th-century French runner.
The bedroom features a 19th-century canopy bed with a linen cover by Charvet Editions. On walls, Farrow & Ball's mouse's back; lamps by Robert Ogden; c. 1930 Caucasian rug.
There are many more photos and an accompanying article in Architectural Digest: Explore the Layered Wonderland of John Derian's Home.

Wonderful Bedroom for Two Boys
Another celebrity couple are featured in a July 2017 post in Architectural Digest. This is my favorite room, shared by two young brothers. The caption below the photo in the article (link is fixed) mentions the source of all decorator items except the elephants quilts, which make the room. Sadly, since publication, the couple is no longer together.
I made a delicious broccoli soup late yesterday garnished with leftovers. I had it for breakfast this morning and it was a delicious way to start my day. xo

Gorgeous Bedroom
This room is perfection. I love the painted floor and the rug that looks like a sweater. The artwork on the walls is gorgeous, the side table is lovely, the bed is spectacular, the chair is beautiful as is the upholstered headboard. It all works so nicely together. Found here.
UPDATE: I decided to search the original source for the first photo and found it was the Southhampton bedroom of Tory Burch. Here is another view. Isn't it lovely?
Lee Radziwill’s former Fifth Avenue bedroom, via the July/August 1975 issue of Architectural Digest. The central theme is Colfax and Fowler's classic chintz called Fuscia. The botanical prints are also a theme. Somehow Tory Burch found a very similar rug and duplicated this floor with a painted version.
You are in for a treat. There are so many more photos of rooms with this chintz fabric to study and love here. ENJOY!!!

Best Guesthouse Ever
Yes, please. I have always loved a settle bench at the front door. This guesthouse in the Hamptons is charming! The main house is large and very nice with an understated classic interior filled with antiques. See it too in the link below.
The guest cottage has a cozy living room off the kitchen.

Jane Seymour's English Manor: Avon UK
This is the Orangery
An orangery or orangerie was a room or a dedicated building on the grounds of fashionable residences from the 17th to the 19th centuries where orange and other fruit trees were protected during the winter, similar to a greenhouse or conservatory.
Set amid 14 acres of gardens and paddocks is St. Catherine's Court, Avon, a part-time residence for the British-born actress.
Set amid 14 acres of gardens and paddocks is St. Catherine's Court, Avon, a part-time residence for the British-born actress.
"Apart from Hampton Court, ours is the only house in England that has them," the actress says of the Elizabethan grass steps. A Cotswold stone wall is softened by climbing vines and plants growing through nooks. ***I had to look hard for the steps. Aren't they wonderful?
These two photos are from Architectural Digest. See many more photos and read the delightful article here.
Sorry I was AWOL yesterday. I attacked my four lower level windows and screens, a double sliding glass door with a screen, and a back storm door and spent the day with a bucket full of hot soapy water and a hose. I slept like a log last night and it was a day well spent. I did not do the inside windows yet but they will be a snap. Maybe later today when the sun is on the front side of my cottage. See you later. Enjoy this lovely summer day. xo

Built-in Beds in Similar Small Rooms
This sleeping chamber is in one of the bedrooms belonging to India Hicks and David Flint Wood. See more photos inside their charming English Country House. Enjoy the wonderful tour.
This one confuses me no end. Maybe it's another bedroom in the same manse in Oxfordshire, though it's not pictured in the article in Architectural Digest. I found this photo here.

Amelia Handegan Virginia Restoration
18th Century Rose Hill Plantation
The music room at Rose Hill, an 18th century estate. I adore this painted floor.
The library holds books that have been at Rose Hill for two centuries.
Isn't this the perfect place to enjoy the books in the Rose Hill library before retiring to the adjacent master bedroom? The open fire is the icing on the cake. This old house has been decorated in such a livable manner. Read the article and see many more photographs of this plantation country house via Architectural Digest. Have a great weekend. xo

Most Gorgeous Living/Family Room
This formal yet casual cozy large living/family room is fabulous. What a great seating arrangement for conversing with family and friends. I like the rag rug too and the wallpaper is subtle and interesting. I see it was in Architectural Digest and would love to find it online but haven't yet. via
My tired bones are looking forward to PBS tonight with The Durrells and The Collection. I raked tons of leaves and did quite a lot of outside work. I got a 9KW Generac Generator and it was installed on Friday. The plumber is coming tomorrow to connect the gas line and the plumbing inspection is on Thursday. It will be turned on and tested when the electrical inspector comes. It looks gorgeous and made my picket fence and the north side of my cottage look shabby so I washed everything down with Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day multi-surface spray and the shingles, my air-conditioning unit, all the panel boxes and pipes and especially the picket fence look almost new. I got rid of that green algae or whatever it is that likes to get on surfaces where there is no direct sun. It wasn't that hard since there was the nicest very soft rain that wet down everything for me so my spray cleaner could get right to work. I didn't have to scrub with any brushes, just a 3M thin pad and some old rags. I did a lot of raking and pruning earlier in the day before the rain. Will post pics later. Enjoy your Sunday night. xo

Copper Pots in Home Decor
Beautiful copper pots and lids hanging from old beams in a kitchen.
This must be the back entrance into a kitchen. Copper cookware hanging and displayed everywhere. Wow. Both photos from Architectural Digest.

Meg Ryan's Great Farm Table in Loft Kitchen
This kitchen is in a NYC loft. Love the table and open cupboards. via A little country in the city is always a nice touch to soften the industrial pipes overhead.
Thank you to a reader ( francetaste ) for telling me this is the NYC loft belonging to Meg Ryan. I found the link so we can see inside! Here it is on Architectural Digest. Go inside Meg Ryan's New York City loft.

For Sale: Renée Zellweger’s Old House in Connecticut
Click here for slideshow from Architectural Digest.
The clapboard exterior of Renée Zellweger’s 18th century Connecticut retreat.
The primarily white kitchen has butcher-block countertops. I wouldn't want this half-wall looking into the formal dining room. I wouldn't want to look at the hanging pot rack in the kitchen from the dining room.
The Quinebaug River runs through the property.

After and Before from Country Living
I thought I'd shake things up and show you the after project first. From Country Living Magazine.
This is what the house looked like three years before the above photo was taken. That's how long the restoration took. I can't find a link to show you what it looked like inside. These photos were on Instagram today. You can't beat good bones, can you. Like the before, love the after.
The snow I had this morning quit by noon and didn't amount to much, thank goodness!
