This home sure has a storied past! If those walls could talk, I'll bet we'd all listen. Rosemary, thanks for the link to the article-so interesting.
Pam -- I loved the animated photos in the article. Those lifting stair treads were a very clever storage idea. So glad you liked!

It's nice, but I have to admit, I'm a little surprised Jackie would live in such a rustic style of house.
Rosemary! this was a delight from beginning to end.
it brought back memories for me of that area.
we lived 2 hours and 25 minutes from Middleburg! such beautiful country. and that 'cabin' is perfect.
I love Bunny Mellon's philosophy of design. Living in it came First! it doesn't seem tiny at all to me! but then I live in a 550 sq ft apartment. LOL

Lisa D. -- Jackie had a country house in Peapack, New Jersey, not too far from my cottage, where she kept her horses when the children were small. It wasn't a log cabin but was very unassuming and in a lovely area for riding with the hunt in the Somerset Hills. Bunny Mellon's Virginia property was in a similar setting.

tammy j -- Tam, That cabin is the perfect size. Not too big. I didn't know you lived near Middleburg. I have never been to that part of Virginia but I understand it is simply wonderful. I am glad my post took you on a trip down memory lane.
