Best Guesthouse Ever
Yes, please. I have always loved a settle bench at the front door. This guesthouse in the Hamptons is charming! The main house is large and very nice with an understated classic interior filled with antiques. See it too in the link below.
The guest cottage has a cozy living room off the kitchen.

Lakeside Cottage in Belgium built on a budget
De Rosee Sa are a hands-on London architecture and design practice. Led by husband-and-wife duo, Max De Rosee and Claire Sa, they recently completed a lakeside cabin for De Rosee’s parents that the team not only designed but also built themselves. What’s more, De Rosee’s environmentalist father milled the wood himself from trees on the property that had been felled in a storm several years earlier. Total budget: £25,000 ($36,281)—it pays to have an architect in the family.
See many more pics (outside and inside) here and learn about the "stain" used to darken and seal the clapboard😊😊😊

Do You Prefer The Deck or The Beach?
These people are ready for summer, aren't they? The decks have been repaired and you can walk all the way to the beach without having your feet touch the sand. What a spot! via
Do you have vacation plans?
What happened to June? Can you believe today is the last day and this is actually the week of July 4th? Time flies when you aren't looking. via

Coastal Maine Century Old Cottage
The shingled cottage on Southport Island, Maine, was built more than a century ago and is as close to the water as you can get on this rocky coastline.
Owner/designer Libby Cameron painted the staircase banister and treads in Benjamin Moore's Chrome Green. Most of the floors all over the rambling cottage are painted this color too. I like it!
The long built-in bench in the sitting room is where people sit and talk on the only phone in the house.
The owner's favorite place to sit. There is a screened porch alongside for outdoor dining. Want to see more? There's a slideshow here showing the carefree and charming interior. You'll love it!!!

Black with A Touch of White
I don't know why, but this house fascinates me. I want to go inside and check it out. Remember when I was trying to decide what color to paint my cottage and I was thinking of a dark color? I'm glad I went with all white.
It's very interesting inside too. This cabin in Quebec is a rental. See more photos here. All photos by Jean Longpré.

Lake House in the Snow
What a beautiful photo. It captures the quiet and stillness of the idyllic scene perfectly. It must be the first snow of the season because the water isn't frozen. My snow has melted and I'm glad. Have a great evening and I'll see you tomorrow. via

Some Wonderful Summer Cabins
This cabin by San Francisco-based Nick Noyes Architecture sits on a 60-foot-wide ocean bluff in the Sonoma County coastal community of Sea Ranch. A copper-clad chimney connects two wings shielding an inner courtyard from the coastal winds.
This East Hampton residence by NYC-based Billinkoff Architecture is comprised of a string of small buildings connected by an indoor corridor, maximizing opportunities for indoor/outdoor living.
This beach cottage by Rohleder Borges Architecture with interiors by Bainbridge Island, Washington-based Michelle Burgess Design welcomes guests with a covered waterfront sitting porch.
This 1920s creekside cabin in Calistoga, California, was remodeled by Sonoma-based Amy A. Alper, Architect. The original layout of the weekend home occluded views of the seasonal creek, so Alper designed a double-height living room addition to wrap around the exterior. Photo by Eric Rorer.
Wonderful article from Remodelista with all of the links for the individual cabins above and more.

A South Carolina Vacation Home with Equestrian Style
This is a vacation home for a family of 4 located in Spring Island, South Carolina
I posted almost all of the photos. This vacation home was build for a family from Princeton New Jersey in a South Carolina private community. They were always inspired by converted barns but wanted new construction. I think they got what they wanted and more, don't you? Read the article and see more photos here. I love the batten Bahama shutters. Size: 2,900 square feet; 3 bedrooms, 3½ bathrooms plus a 1-bedroom, 1-bath guesthouse.
