Please Don't Eat The Snowdrops

This must be in England because I have snowdrops everywhere and nothing has ever eaten them. It's an adorable photo though, isn't it? Happy Friday! It's raining at my cottage and will continue all night into Saturday. Have a great weekend no matter the weather. via

I searched Google Lens for source of original photo and found this.

Rabbit Rabbit -- Hello February

The phrase rabbit rabbit is a long-held superstition thought to bring about good luck. But it's not to be uttered just any old random day. If you say it on the first day of the month, before any other words come out of your mouth, then luck will be coming your way.

I have always loved this rabbit pattern in navy blue designed by William Morris in 1882.  I have seen the wallpaper but never the fabric. The pattern was a tribute to the Uncle Remus books, first published in 1881, and a favourite of the Morris family.

🐰The Rabbit's Dream🐰 Drawing Circa 1895-99 by Beatrix Potter

Beatrix Potter’s drawing
“the Rabbit's Dream” one of four drawn over 4 years
He dreams BIG, doesn't he?
In the collection of Victoria and Albert Museum

"Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) is one of the world's best-loved children's authors and illustrators. She wrote the majority of the twenty-three Original Peter Rabbit Books between 1901 and 1913. The Tale of Peter Rabbit (Frederick Warne, 1902) is her most famous and best-loved tale. This is one of four known versions of ‘The Rabbit’s Dream’, all dating from 1895 to 1899. The rabbit shown here – thought to be Potter's pet rabbit, Peter Piper – sleeps in the No. 4 bedroom at Camfield Place. Potter slept in this room when visiting her grandparents before they died, and made a detailed pen and ink drawing of the room. Framing the central rabbit are numerous drawings of him sleeping in different positions, reflecting the many studies of her pets Potter made."

I love learning the history behind her artwork and this one is very special. I love knowing she slept in this very room in her grandparents' house. Her drawing below is also in the Beatrix Potter collection housed in London at The Victoria and Albert Museum. I found it on Google Images. There is a new exhibit opening February 22, 2022 to celebrate her life. Beatrix Potter, Drawn to Nature. Be sure to mark your calendar and visit virtually. I'll try to remind you.

Isn't this the most charming bedroom ever? I wonder if her grandparents' house was preserved? If so, there should be a sign: "Beatrix slept here." Sweet Dreams! xo

A Rabbit, Waist Deep in Snow + Powder Blue Kitchen Cabinets

Does He Look Fed Up?
I kept up with my snow by going outside often to shovel before it got too deep. It tapered off late in the afternoon and is supposed to start up again in the night but I think the worst is over. Wasn't too bad at all! I think animals, and this rabbit in particular, just take one day at a time and deal with whatever Mother Nature brings instead of wishing the snow would end the way we humans do. xo

Powder Blue Cabinets!
I have never considered powder blue as a color for painted cabinets, but aren't these lovely? via I am having a terrible problem with my sidebar not showing and I cannot fix it. Click here for MOBILE VIEW. xo

Rabbit Wallpaper

RABBIT  WALLPAPER
This bathroom is in the house I visited last Saturday for the Estate Sale. Isn't it fabulous? The rabbit wallpaper is really the WOW factor needed to transform an otherwise unexciting room into a spectacular one. Dare to be daring! I love it.❤

Bunny in The Snow

I can't get away from people on TV or the radio talking about the Nor'easter that's coming my way tomorrow afternoon. The snowy scene above is just about all I can take mentally but I'll deal with it on Thursday morning for sure. Be safe if you are in the path too. xo

April First. A Frog and A Rabbit

My antique cast iron frog that looks right into the window of my pantry where I sit to pay bills. He has a hole in his mouth because he was once a fountain. I set my iPhone camera on portrait mode to blur out the background. I so love this feature.

Happy April Fool's Day. No jokes here. Ready to jump into bed now. xo

Rabbit doing Yard Work

I wish I had a bunny to help me clean out all the leaves I didn't get rid of in the fall. I have learned it's best to leave them and wait until spring because wildlife can find things to eat under them. Maybe this rabbit is clearing them away to get at some tender grass to eat. via

Bunny Ears

This bunny looks as if he is on high alert and his ears indicate he has heard something straight ahead. photo credit Rabbits' sense of hearing is their most vital sense. Their large ears can detect sounds from a long way off. But the key to rabbits' hearing ability is their ability to swivel independently. This helps the ears funnel sounds from every direction. More information on their 5 senses here. I never knew their ears swiveled, and independently at that, did you?

The life expectancy of a wild rabbit is much shorter than our domestic pets. In fact, a wild rabbit usually only lives for about a year….sometimes two.

Wild rabbits don't live very long because of a variety of different factors. Disease, harsh winter conditions, lack of food and predators all influence how long the rabbit will live.

Although it seems harsh, this is nature's way of balancing the rabbit population. via

Rabbit with Peonies

"My soul can find no staircase to Heaven unless it be through Earth's loveliness." Michelangelo
The Wonderful Artist: Koo Schandler's Homepage
The peonies here at my cottage are standing tall but have no buds yet. They are aching for some sun but there is none on the horizon for the upcoming week. They can't complain about lack of rain though because we have had plenty. Have a great weekend no matter what the weather.
💦💧💦💧💦💧💦UPDATE: I was wrong. All of my peonies have small buds. Yay!
