Yes. Isn't this the perfect room? via I've been thinking of having another wall of shelves built in my guest room. This one would be perfect! We got about 6 inches of snow overnight and it is quite lovely. The animals have been out and are both in after-breakfast food comas and the house is snug and warm. Now that my furnace has been fixed, I realize that I was having a problem for quite some time. I can remember thinking for a long time that my house was cold. The furnace wasn't clicking on when the temperature dropped. It finally broke totally and now that it is working properly the cottage is back to being its old cozy self. I can't stop looking up at this library and have decided to work on my books today and maybe some taxes. Be safe and warm this weekendwe. xo

Great Reading Area Under the Stairs
Isn't this a clever use for an entrance hall. I love the bookshelves going up the twisting stairs and on the landing. More interior photos of this 18th century farmhouse here.

Perfect Way to Spend a Sunday Afternoon
I adore this photograph. It captures the perfect nap surrounded by a Duke's favorite things.

The Year of the Horse
The bookcase and horse painting are mine.
I didn't realize I was born in the year of the horse. Were you? Check here. I haven't finished reading the fascinating article....scroll down for the chart to find out your animal sign.
Here is the Waterlogue App watercolor version of the above photo. I am still loving this amazing app for my iPhone. Did you download it yet? Have a great weekend.

Wonderful Bookshelves
This is quite nice. I like it all....the lights, the books, the accessories and the leather settee. via

Secret Window
Bifold raised-panel shutters not only make a handsome frame for the window, as in this Georgian-era library, but they also help keep drafts at bay. If you look closely, you will see the hinges for the bottom shutters. When they are open the room must be twice as wonderful with such a large window to frame the view and let in more natural light. via

The Bookcase
I love looking at the various things that end up on a bookcase. Old things like to be together, don't they? via

Books and Shells and Things on Shelves
Here is a detail of one of my bookshelves in the living room taken by lamplight with my iPhone tonight in a warm house. It's so nice and cozy I almost feel guilty knowing so many are still without power. Poor Webster really overdid it the last two days and he honestly was too tired to walk and stayed on his bed all day until he recovered enough to go outside after dark for the first time today. I was really worried about him but he's fine now. I know how he feels. Supervising people and working alongside is hard and exhausting.

Antiquarian Books and Prints
They are always perfect together, especially in such a lovely bookcase. I plan to reply to the comments left on various blog posts over the past two days this weekend. via

Almost Perfect Bedroom
I would add reading lights to the sides of the bookcases and would require a TV on the wall opposite the foot of the bed. Otherwise, it's perfect. Agreed? I'm up on the third floor paying bills and looking at saved photos. I think I must have already blogged this and I have no idea of the photo source. Those old boards with the great patina on the ceiling must have been old floorboards from the attic. I love the cozy size of the room. My own bedroom is about this size. I have bookcases and a television on the far wall. And a window on each side of the bed.

I like these room-dividing bookcases by Candace Barnes. Those shelves look as though they will never sag no matter how heavy the books. Nice indeed. via

Perfect Reading Spot
I would turn the chair around and put it where the table is located so the lamp would shine on my book. I would replace the table with an ottoman. I would reserve the middle shelf cubby for placing my coffee or tea cup and then this arrangement would be perfect. What changes would you make? via

So Many Bookshelves in this Restored Farmhouse
via
There are many more photos in the complete article about this delightful restored farmhouse. I'm over the moon seeing what Smith and Vansant Architects did at Willey Hill Cape in Norwich Vermont. You will be too, I promise! Tour the rest of the house here.
