I LOVE window seat bookcase niches like this. Especially those where one can stretch out and spend a few hours on a rainy afternoon - it's a romantic idyll for every book lover I would think:)
I have seen a beautiful window seat created in the study window of a straw bale home, surrounded by bookshelves too. This wall was decadently thick and roomy, with an invitingly soft fitted cushion seat that called to be sat on and stay awhile.. delightful.
it was a beautiful house. We saw it a few years ago on a Sustainable House Open Day. The house was very well designed and, as I like it, not a large house but perfectly cosy as straw bale homes often are. It was earthy and energy efficient, warm and 'friendly' - and had character plus!

I love the thickness of the walls too. Like those of an old stone house.
I would love to see that straw bale home with the thick walls. How interesting!
