Scherenschnitte: Winter Wonderland Papercut

This image is actually a Scherenschnitte or papercutting. It is absolutely amazing and so accurately describes the view outside my window today. Birds fed, finished my movie, more later. Rosemary

Thursday Morning Snow

The view from my computer desk. I took this photo 3 minutes ago and since that time it has become a whiteout. Should I get dressed and fill up the bird feeder? I think I should. I made them a treat too...a jar of chunky peanut butter mixed with some raw grits. That should give them some fat to keep them warm. I am putting it in one of those red mesh bags used to package loose onions. Be back later, Rosemary.

A Cute Pup To Make You Smile

Honestly, this is one of the cutest puppies ever. Agreed? I love the multicolored tennis ball too. I can remember those sharp little teeth on Webster. Ouch.

It's snowing like mad at my house right now but no wind yet. I'm going back to bed to finish watching The Jane Austen Book Club that was on Lifetime last night. The part I watched was good. See you later, Rosemary.

Children Fight Over Illustrator Tasha Tudor's Estate

Tasha Tudor holding one of her Nubian goats.

Bethany Tudor holds the book DRAWN FROM NEW ENGLAND she authored about her mother, artist Tasha Tudor. Photo: AP

I'm very upset by what I'm reading about the feud over Tasha Tudor's estate. Read more. War of the Tudors: Family Feuds of $2 Million Estate ~ another article. Such greed. The children even fought over their mother's ashes. Things aren't always as they seem.

I had a first edition of the book Bethany is holding that I loaned out and never got back. Now I don't even want it.

DIY Laundry Drying Rack

I recently blogged about absolutely loving this laundry room.

Laundry drying rack from Ballard Designs.

DIY laundry drying rack folded flat.

DIY rack shown with bracket to hold it open.

Knobs along the bottom are perfect for drying things on hangers.

Complete DIY instructions from Centsational Girl for making your own at huge savings. Construct several while you are at it in different sizes. I'd like to have one in my bathroom.

I've been saving this on my desktop for ages and am running out of room. Now I can delete it. Let me know if talk someone in your family into making one for you or if you make it yourself. Martha would already be half finished in the time it has taken you to read this. :-)

So Wanting To Do This

I love these flowers in jars and bottles on the deep windowsill, don't you. I say this after reading the latest weather report predicting 17" of snow at my house accompanied by 70mph winds. Time to batten down the hatches, bring in more fire wood and put the covers over my head.

I'm blaming this bizarre weather on the animal activists who wanted to replace the groundhog in Pennsylvania with a robotic version. This is surely Punxsutawney Phil's revenge. Well, it could be the reason.

I really wish I could keep track of where all the images I am saving came from. There must be an easy way but so far I haven't found it. Anyway, I love these beautiful photos, don't you?

Recycled Laundry Sink

I'm wild about this repurposed vintage zinc laundry sink. I can't exactly tell, but think this is a big bathroom sink now. Could be in a pool house too. Wherever it is, I like it! A lot.

Free Pancakes Today at IHOP

If you love pancakes then this is your day. IHOP restaurants across the country are hoping to stack up donations for Children's Miracle Network and other local charities.

IHOP plans on doing this by offering a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes and inviting people to make donations to the charities.

This is not the first time IHOP has celebrated National Pancake Day.

Last year pancake lovers donated $1.5 million dollars to children's charities and IHOP served up 2.5 million free pancakes, which they estimate, would have reached nearly 20 miles high.

You can receive your free short stack from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM today only.

So enjoy a free meal and support children's charities all at the same time.

Tuesday Morning in February

ERY beautiful flowers make everything look better. I woke up this morning to a dusting of snow and a dreary gray day. Everything's white again. I thought some images of flowers might cheer everyone up.

The font is seventeenth century French scanned from one of my antiquarian books. I thought it was perfect for this post.

"From December to March, there are for many of
us three gardens: the garden outdoors,
the garden of pots and bowls in the house,
and the garden of the mind's eye." - Katherine S. White
