This shingled cottage is in the Hamptons. It is simple and understated with all green landscaping and a curved stepping stone walkway. So nice! via

House Surrounded by A Fenced Garden

I like it. A house sitting all alone with a deck around it, surrounded by gardens. The "lawn" is outside the fenced garden area. It's the opposite of "Don't Fence Me In". via

Yard Goals: Mowed Path

This wide mowed path is quite wonderful. It probably wasn't always flanked by tall grasses left to go wild but it transitioned perfectly. The old house is charming too. Enjoy your Sunday and picture me hiding in my my cottage with the air conditioning running with three days of temps in the 90s coming up. Stay cool. xo

Cultivated Wild Landscaping in Napa

I loved reading the article about this Architectural Landscaping couple who got stuck at their vacation home during quarantine and totally revamped the outside with cultivated wildness. It looks fabulous and the poppies growing in the cracks are right up my alley. Followed by hollyhocks! What could be better? Read the entire article here. Enjoy! xo

Pool House with Bermuda Shutters

via
I adore this bungalow with a delightful pool house. The full-window Bermuda shutters are perfect here and they provide shade, airflow, and privacy. The clerestory windows are another architectural detail that make this compound so special. The understated mature landscaping is wonderful and so is the swimming pool. I love this little gem!

Dutch Door Love

This charming photo has so many things I like. A screen door, a Dutch door, a porch, stepping stones surrounded by grass, side lights, a brass "door" bell, river rocks under the bluestone porch floor, and a beautiful entrance hall. Found here.

Friday Night Eventide

I snapped this photo out back just before the end of the day. My lacecap hydrangea is to the right and it's more beautiful than ever this year. My field is looking very nice with some golden tall grasses mixed in with the weeds. The sky had some nice color too. I wish I could capture the fireflies that will be blinking after dark. They are absolutely amazing now that we are having hot summer nights. I finally went to the attic and put a new filter in my air exchanger and fired up my central air for the first time this season.
Stay cool and have a lively weekend. xo

Climbing Roses + Embroidery Stitches

There are so many charming elements wrapped up in a single photo, right?

This handmade cloth needlework book illustrating embroidery stitches is truly a treasure and a work of love. I think this woman is the creator of this embroidery book.

Could anything be more lovely? I think not. The house. The walk. The clipped topiaries. Perfection. via

Dream House In England

Teleport me there, now! via

Tree in Winter

This tree is lovely in the winter landscape. I love the shape of it and the fence fascinates me. It appears to be a "forever" fence with sturdy wooden posts and rails made of connected metal pipes. via

Goodbye to Summer

It is hot and muggy at my cottage today but a change is coming tomorrow when the high will be only 68° which is a big drop from 82° now. Can't wait! This image personifies the end of summer, doesn't it? via
