Saturday Cleaning Frenzy

An early Saturday morning view from inside my vestibule looking out at a rainy walkway. The day got progressively better and the sun came out after lunch which was an unexpected surprise.

I had other plans for my morning so I didn't mind the rain. I woke up knowing I was going to give my bathroom a deep cleaning and I did.

It's such a good feeling to finish a job well done, isn't it? I have turned on my heat several times and I wanted to get out my radiator brush and give mine a good cleaning. This room has the first one I've done. I cleaned the floor and every surface and I am so happy. Now that I see the photos I think I'll get out my new ladder and do the light fixture too. I didn't think of it today. Have a great Sunday. xo ~ Posting Saturday night 8:30 pm

Washing Windows

I washed the outside windows on the front of the house today. Yesterday I washed the living room front windows inside.

It went beautifully. I used hot water with several squirts of Dawn Ultra and several drops of the rinse aid that came with my new dishwasher. I used my long pole lambswool applicator and then used my long pole squeegee without rinsing. Then I got up on my new ladder and went over the glass with a lint free dishcloth and then I polished with a microfiber cloth. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed this task I usually dread. Having the right tools and the right ladder made all the difference. I did my front door window too.

Yesterday I worked in the front garden and cut my peonies down to the ground. I pulled up all the weeds and planted some purple flowering kale. I want to spread some wood chips tomorrow and the garden will be officially put to bed for the winter. Having nice weather was a big plus.

Can't Stop Rearranging and Cleaning

My grandmother said it best:
"It's easier to keep up than to catch up!"
Not much has changed in this view except the pillows on the sofa but everything has been moved and cleaned under and over and up and down. I could have hired someone to do it but I really wanted to do it myself so I would know it was done right. It IS possible to catch up and I am determined to keep going until everything is in apple pie order. Have a great weekend, what's left of it. xo

Lovely Interior Design

I will never be a minimalist and never will the owner of the home shown above. I like lots of water in my washing machine and lots of things to love in my cottage. I have had people tell me, "You have so many things, but it doesn't look crowded." There is an art to this; you must choose things that are appropriately scaled to the size of your rooms so nothing overwhelms them.
I have been donating like crazy lately, giving away things that were duplicates in my newly cleaned out cupboards. At the end of this month, I can put things out at the road for the yearly pickup. I love driving around to see what other people are throwing away and maybe finding a treasure to bring back home.
