Yesterday Morning's Photos

I never tire of photographing lady's mantle in the early morning with the dew collecting on all the fringed leaves.

A portrait mode photo of the African Daisies that aren't awake yet.

The brilliance of this scarlet geranium that is next to my front door is amazing. I have overwintered this plant for years and years and years. It was a rescue plant from a friend who was going to throw it out. Free plants are my favorite.

hron -- I love iPhone photography, especially on an overcast morning with raindrops and dew drops on the flowers. Glad you liked.

I love your photos of Lady's Mantle...probably my favorite perennial. I have several growing in different areas on my property & found some tiny seedlings today which I put into peat pots to move to a new location. The small chartreusse flowers are gorgeous in an herbal bouquet or with anything purple, & they last quite a long time.

...all is grace!

Anita ~ the cabin on the creek :: Anita, My Lady's Mantle flowers are just setting their buds and I shall have flowers for arrangements soon. I think they are at the top of my favorite perennials list too and I never tire of photographing them.

Is this technically a blog? I have been following forever, loving it forever! whatever it is it is my favorite! Short and sweet and lovely!

I want Lady's mantle too. California??

And, you give great hope in this time of crisis because of your simplicity, elegance, and love of nature and wildlife.

I have to mention that patina farm offers the same values.....do you agree? With a million animals thrown in!
I miss your animals. (I cannot believe I said it again....I am opstreporous). Truly.

Correction: it is spelled "obstreperous". And I am it!

Now I want some Lady's Mantle too! Rosemary, I have many "saved" plants from friends and they bring me much pleasure. Whenever I look at those plants, they remind me of the donor. Happy gardening! Finished with your quarantine?

Penelope Bianchi -- Penelope: Yes. Patina Farm has been beautifully restored to the days before the mudslides and all the wildlife has come back too. Your pets and farm animals complete the picture. I loved the video of your hungry baby owl on Instagram. And your beautifully designed interior with perfect symmetry in the photo with the limbs. It is a treat to have you as a follower and I do appreciate your frequent comments.

Penelope Bianchi -- Penelope: You will have to look up your growing zone. I am in 6b (New Jersey). Lady's mantle is easy to grow. Typically, the plant grows well in regions with cool summers and moist, fertile soil and is hardy in USDA plant hardiness zones 3-7. While it can tolerate full sun, lady's mantle performs better in shade when grown in warmer regions.

Pam -- Yes, I am finished with my self-quarantine but I have been too busy doing yard work to go out. I am caught up now so I will schedule another curbside grocery run. I am the same way with plants I have gotten from friends in my memory garden. I really must go and knock on the door of the first house I owned in NJ. I had purple and white dwarf Siberian iris transplanted from an elderly antique dealer's garden. Every year she thinned them and sold the plants for 5 cents each. I think I bought them all before moved to New Hampshire. I neglected to dig any of them up when I moved and I've always regretted it.
