A seldom seen wall in my living room.

My antique bookcase with sliding glass doors in the living room is filled with my collection of antiquarian books with fine leather bindings. It is impossible to show the bottom two shelves going all the way down to the floor as the space is too tight without moving heavy furniture. The top is lined with my Georgian glass decanters and other suitable items for drinking if the decanters were ever filled. It's a pain to dust and when I do, I have to refer to a photo in order to get everything back in the proper place. Enjoy the last full week of May. xo

I love your house. I love looking at the pictures. If I had my choice that is what my house would look like, but I have a very messy daughter and a husband who thinks neat is piles here and there. So I live vicariously through your blog. thank you. Keeps me sane.

You have a wonderful sense of balance and your collections of decanters and books are close to my heart as well as that peek of blue and white porcelain. Lovely, peaceful.

jane :: I was a messy daughter and I still struggle with putting things away. You would faint if you could see my spare bedroom that I use as a dressing room. The bed is piled high with clothes. I do keep my main room straight and cannot go to bed until things are neat. I mowed the grass in the back today and It looks beautiful so my messy room will have to stay that way a little while longer. I have neat piles in that room too. Don't envy me too much and remember I am careful with selective photography never showing anything messy. It is hard to have everything neat all at one time. But it all gets done in due time. Thanks for your kind words.

Franki -- The blue and white piece is a large Staffordshire transferware punchbowl. I blogged about it here:

The things you like are close to my heart too. We have the same taste.

I enjoy seeing inside your charming home, Rosemary. You have so many interesting collections and you display them well (that is something that I often struggle with). Love your honesty about needing a photo to get your decanters, etc., back into place after dusting.

The nag strikes again,.

I adore your house.....the walls with the wood detail......everything is so divine and perfect, and warm and inviting.
Beautifully arranged....cozy, warm, filled with collections and everything there has a story. My idea of a warm and lovely home.

Except. It truly needs a dog and a cat.

Tell me to mind my own business. I loved those pictures with Webster the wonder dog.....and your beautiful mother.....and your mother's cat. Please adopt a dog and a cat. Please???

Then this divine house will be just right.

Penelope

ps too bad I don't mind my own business.

Pam :: Before dusting, it's no problem because I usually wait so long there is a distinct outline of every object. Sometimes I just remove the items, one at a time and dust underneath that way. I have learned the hard way to take a photo first before taking something apart like the plugs behind a tv set for the audio.
I am happy to hear you like my collections and arrangements.

Penelope Bianchi -- Penelope, I truly appreciate your nagging. I keep thinking about adopting a new pet (or two) and will eventually and you will be the first to know too! Thank you for your kind words about my home.
