Stone Cottage
"abandoned places. stones warmed by the sun. nature run amuck on the structures left behind. the mystery of things unattended."
I'd love to be teleported to this very spot right now. Have a great weekend, Rosemary

May Is National Bike Month
Loving Cup, Flowers, Books, and Antiques
I love this image since I collect antique sterling silver engraved presentation trophies and antiquarian books. It's lovely, isn't? Right now the only flowers I have blooming in great quantities are buttercups. I wonder how they would look in a loving cup? Certainly not as beautiful as these white roses.
I'll be back later. Busy day head. Enjoy your Friday whatever you do.

The Real Fantastic Mr. Fox
Have you seen the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox? It's a wonderful animated film based on the book by Ronald Dahl. He called the story a fantasy adventure for children but it's certainly one adults can enjoy as well. I watched the DVD recently and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
An urbane fox cannot resist returning to his farm raiding ways and then must help his community survive the farmers' retaliation. George Clooney plays Mr. Fox and Meryl Streep provides the voice for Mrs. Fox.

Goodnight. Time For Bed.
Should I Trade My Cottage For This One?
It isn't often that I see something that I like better than my own cottage. Dare I even go and look? It's not very far away. I wish photos of the bedrooms were posted. Oh dear. Let me know if you have any interest. We could see it together and then flip a coin.

Peony The Size Of A Luncheon Plate
I photographed this huge peony at a friend's house this morning. It's spectacular, isn't it? I've started carrying my tiny point and shoot camera in my purse for capturing moments like this.
I used my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 with a Leica lens.
My camera is 4 years old but quite adequate with a mere 6MP. That's all you need. The prices have really dropped since I bought mine.
More current models are available.
Picasso Brings $106.5M, Most Espensive Painting Ever Sold
$106.5m buys the most expensive painting in the world: "A 1932 painting by Pablo Picasso has set a world art auction record, selling for a staggering $US106.48 million, the auction house Christie's announced in New York."
The New York Times reports that Picasso dashed this painting off in one day in 1964, not 1932. Regardless, it is now the most expensive painting ever sold. It is called Nude, Green Leaves and Bust. Read the fascinating article when you have time.
Now I'm off to plant some herbs that cost $1.99 US.

Chateau de Chambord - France
Château de Chambord is one of the most remarkable Renaissance castles in France. The castle, completed in 1547, contains 440 rooms, 84 staircases, 365 fireplaces (one for each day of the year). It also has stables to accommodate 1,200 horses. The property is surrounded by 20 miles of walls which protect more than 13,000 acres of woods. This huge hunting reserve covers as much ground as all of Paris!
