Today's iPhone Cottage Photos

A bad house fire destroyed a very old cottage on a nearby estate a couple of years ago. Everyone is in love with this new replacement. The standing seam metal roof is nice. There is a garage to the left but there was a car in the driveway that I didn't want in my photograph. It's bigger than it looks. One day I'll snap a side view.

Now you know this is so much better than going to the mall, right? There is a complex of small cottage shops nearby painted in off the wall colors.

I've been meaning to stop and photograph them and today I did!

Antique Bird Prints

I love this mixed media image I scanned from an old copy of Town and Country magazine. I have always admired these antiquarian prints from The Natural History of Birds, by Eleazar Albin, published between 1731 and 1738. These large scale hand-colored antique bird prints are favored by decoupage artist John Derian. When reproduced and laser printed they make wonderful trays

I'm Loving Tartan Plaids for Some Reason

For some reason I am drawn to red plaid in all forms lately. It just seems to be so perfect for the upcoming holiday season. Agreed? Which one is your favorite? I honestly want them all. via The link sends you to my boards on Pinterest. I've pinned each of these recently. My lights keep flickering with this blizzard....yes I said blizzard because that is what it has become. I'm nervously charging up my iPhone just in case the power goes out with fingers crossed that it doesn't. Webster went back to bed like a smart dog.

Pet Hammock | Webster Wants One

Have you ever seen a more comfortable looking animal? I think not. Are you going to order a Pet Lounge for your favorite animal? Webster would love this but I have no more floor space. Let me know if you place an order for your lucky dog.

Sunday Morning Cheese Biscuits

I almost never photograph the food I prepare because I make such a mess in the kitchen. I was inspired to make cheese biscuits to go along with my fried egg this morning in order to test my "new" toaster oven. Well, it's not really new but you'd never guess it's not fresh out of the box. The firemen had their annual auction and tent sale yesterday and I had such fun looking at other people's junk. I got my Cuisinart Classic Toaster Oven for $14.00 and I am thrilled with it. It seemed such a shame to fire up the stove oven for only 6 biscuits as I have been doing ever since I made my first batch of homemade Bisquick Mix. This is my 4th pan of delicious oven-baked goodness with the addition of grated cheddar cheese. I was going to make grits this morning too but didn't have time . . . everything went together so quickly.

I used unsalted butter for the mix but next time I am going to use salted. It was all I had in the fridge at the time. I might use only half the sugar or eliminate it altogether. Southerners never put sugar in biscuits; I think that is a Yankee thing. You really can't taste any sweetness and maybe it helps with the rising. We'll see. Anyway, I am set for the day after a delicious breakfast. I have to host a Realtor open house this afternoon so I'd better start getting ready. See you later.

Here is my newest kitchen friend. You know you have too much stuff when you have to spend hours rearranging in order to fit one more thing in your house.

Mansion in May | Designer Showcase House and Gardens | To Benefit Morristown Memorial Hospital

Women's Association - Morristown Memorial Hospital - 2010 Mansion in May:
The Woman’s Association of Morristown Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce its 15th Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and Gardens at Fawn Hill Farm in Harding Township, New Jersey during May of 2010.

Fawn Hill Farm, one of the largest intact estates within the New York City sphere, is also replete with picturesque pastures, ponds, stable and barns and adjoins miles of equestrian trails that lace Harding Township. Remarkable in its extravagant scope and pristine condition, Fawn Hill is a mansion extraordinaire.

My real estate office went to the Weichert-sponsored preview of this landmark event on Thursday night and it was wonderful. I was rushed pulling up the rear as my coworkers dashed through in a hurry to get to the tent with food and drinks. I didn't get to linger in any of the rooms and can't wait to go back. I didn't have a chance to even peek into any of the shops in the carriage houses either. I took all of these photos...none were allowed inside the mansion.

Let me know if you are interested in purchasing this fine estate. It's for sale by my agency. I'd love to show it to you. I live just down the street.
