Beautiful Vegetable Garden

Real gardeners live here. Is there anything more beautiful than a wheelbarrow full of freshly picked vegetables? How does your garden grow? xo

HOW TO GARDEN

I made this illustrated quote years ago on a computer that died along with the software used to create it. I am finding/learning new ways to "doctor" my photos using only Snapseed and the iPhone editing software.

I added an UPDATE to yesterday's post about my printer. I tried to answer all the questions you had and added a photo of the box it came in.

♡thank you♡

Shakespeare's Daughter's House with 17thC Garden

I copied the two photos above (with my phone) from one of my coffee table gardening books, "The Garden, A Celebration" Edited by Howard Loxton. I love the timber-framed house called Hall's Croft and the rear garden with no blank spaces for the weeds to grow. It looks care free but we all know there's no such thing.🪴

Enjoy the long July 4th weekend extending into Monday.

Lytes Cary Manor UK

The arts and crafts-style gardens at this National Trust House in Somerset must be spectacular if these topiaries are examples. Lytes Cary Manor website. Have a great weekend. Mine is off to a lazy start but I am doing things mentally and hope to accomplish something productive later today.

House Surrounded by A Fenced Garden

I like it. A house sitting all alone with a deck around it, surrounded by gardens. The "lawn" is outside the fenced garden area. It's the opposite of "Don't Fence Me In". via

The Most Beautiful Secret Garden

Oh my goodness, such beauty should not be hidden. If you lived here, wouldn't you want to look out the windows of this charming cottage to see these gardens? Or would you prefer to have it as a hidden garden, behind the hedge? via

My Peony Garden

I took this photo late Saturday afternoon, the last day of May. This morning the peonies have opened showing their beautiful yellow centers. The ferns I dug from my woods are spectacular this year too. Will post a photo later. Happy First Day of June. The ferns I dug from my woods are really thick and healthy this year because of all the rain. xo Click photo to enlarge.

Lovely Raised Bed Flower Garden

I have always loved plantings so close together that weeds don't have a chance. I no longer look at photos like this and want them for myself. I know my limitations and am quite happy with what I've got. I like perennials, geraniums, nasturtiums, limelight hydrangeas and milkweed, lambs ears, and peonies. I overwinter my hardier plants. Right now my lilies of the valley are blooming and I have large buds on my peonies. My Lady's Mantle has been enjoying capturing all the raindrops we've had lately too. I don't do store-bought mulch like most people because I prefer wood chips in my beds. How does your garden grow? Enjoy all of my individual links leading to various photos around my cottage gardening. xo

Fenced Garden

I photographed this enclosed garden yesterday at high noon after touring a broker open house. I was waiting for the person who blocked me in to finish her tour. The driveway was long and the parking was quite a challenge. This garden probably doesn't get enough direct sun but I like the design. I would put down salt hay around the raised beds instead of having grass that would be hard to mow.

Meghan's Bridal Bouquet Deconstructed

These named white flowers were handpicked by Prince Harry for the bride's bouquet from The Diana Garden at Kensington Palace. I am so happy to learn the meanings of the chosen specimens and this very touching way to include his mom in the ceremony.

Foxglove at Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg has the best old-fashioned gardens. This photo is from one of my favorite frequent posters on Instagram. She wanders around the village capturing the old houses and gardens, both flower and vegetable, and they are all fabulous. This garden is happening there right now. xo
