The Tattoo Artist by Norman Rockwell

This magazine cover and artwork is new to me. I grew up in a household full of magazines and eagerly awaited the arrival of new ones. The Saturday Evening Post was one of my favorites and I especially loved the covers by Norman Rockwell.

A Norman Rockwell Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving

This is one of my favorite magazine covers and holidays. Hope yours is as much fun as this one. I made my raw cranberry relish and a Mashed Potato Casserole from the New York Times. I don't think I've ever peeled so many potatoes at one time. It looks delicious and I'm sure it will be a big hit at my gathering with friends. Have a great holiday. xo
I added this poem years ago and think it's perfect for the Norman Rockwell artwork.

Here's my annual trip down memory land honoring the good old days and Norman Rockwell.

Happy Thanksgiving from my cottage to your table.
Have a thankful day.

Unwanted Christmas Surprise

Norman Rockwell at his best.

I woke up this morning at 4:53 and the moon looked the same so I missed the lunar eclipse completely. Luckily it wasn't depending on me and the show in the night sky happened anyway.

Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving Wishes

Thanksgiving is a busy day for all of us. I hope your turkey looks just like the one in the Norman Rockwell illustration called Freedom From Want. This painting appeared on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post on March 6, 1943 and inspired America. It continues to inspire me. Every time I look at it I remember my grandparents and the big family get togethers of days gone by.
I added the poem below the classic image.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanksgiving Day 2009

Norman Rockwell "Freedom from Want" Saturday Evening Post cover March 6, 1943. All of my childhood Thanksgivings were like this. Have a wonderful holiday, I know I will. The cottage smells absolutely wonderful! Wishing all of you an old-fashioned Thanksgiving.

Pssst! Long Weekend Ahead ~ Pass It On . . .

The long Labor Day weekend is getting off to a damp start here in New Jersey. We need the rain so I am not complaining. The wet grass will keep me from 'laboring' outside and I am very thankful. I love a rainy day; it gives me permission to play inside without guilt! I am not off the hook entirely as it might clear up later.

I grew up with Norman Rockwell covers on the Saturday Evening Post and 'The Gossip' is one of my favorites.
