Project That is Long Overdue

This stand in my bedroom has always been a pain to dust and I have always wanted to sew custom covers for the tops and today I did. This was fun and pretty easy and I have tons of this fabric for curtains should my current ones ever need replacing. Dusting the drawer fronts, legs and sides will be a breeze now and I like the way it looks. Why today? I don't know but the mood just struck me and I ran with it. I wish I had done this sooner but better late than never. Remember dresser scarves? Maybe it's time to bring them back♡ xo

Rosemary, you are just so creative! Tell me a bit about the pottery on the top shelf and where you acquired it, please?

JudyMac -- I don't this this pot is American but I love it and the drippy glaze and design. I got it from a dealer long ago who had lots of primitive stuff, some very crude from all over the world like a Grand Bazaar.
I'm glad you like my sewing project. xo, Rosemary

Rosemary, what a lovely stand to own. Your covers for the tops are beautiful and the idea of matching curtains sounds really appealing. I like the items you have displayed, especially the box on the left. Is there a history behind it?
P.S I love your Gloucester Old Spot piggy!

Tasha T -- I already have blue and white curtains with a larger check and I have used them in every home since 1972. I remade them for the last time in this house in 2003 and I still love them.

The box on the middle shelf on the left is a carpenter made sewing box with a silk lining. I collect boxes and loved the artistry in this one with the zigzag design in different woods. It's just a treasure I picked up at an antiques show.
My Gloucester Old Spot piggy bank is almost 50 years old. It's signed on the bottom JBS on one side of the opening and Lady Kilner on the other. It was probably a blank and signed by the person who decorated it. It has a nice crackle glaze. I bought it new at a local gift shop long out of business. The two lady owners made frequent trips to England. I'm glad you like it too.

Hi Rosemary! I think using fabric on the shelves adds much, and of course, less dusting is always a good thing. I still use dresser scarves. I'm admiring the photo of the woman and girl. Maybe a mother and daughter?

Pam -- I still see dresser scarves from time to time and I have one friend who is looking for one because her long one got tangled up in the wash and is damaged. The photo on the second shelf is my beautiful mother and me. It was my first birthday and no matter how hard everybody tried, I would NOT smile. I have blogged about it before. See link:

Hope you're having a nice summer and are finding ways to stay cool. xo, Rosemary

I looked up your original post about the picture of you and your mother. It's a lovely picture. You resemble your mom. Thank goodness for our photographs and memories!

Pam -- I'm sure that professional photo of my mother and me was taken at Sears or Montgomery Ward and I am so thankful I have it. I always post it on Instagram on Mother's Day to honor her. Have a great weekend. xo, Rosemary
