First Peonies of The Season

The ant 🐜 is a bonus. They are supposed to be good for the peonies as they eat the sticky nectar which helps them open.

My busy days in real estate have slowed down because the house is under contract for a June 21 closing. Will keep you posted.

Now I am busy with mowing and more mowing. Most of my pots are planted in the front garden and on my balcony. May has been exceptionally cool and I have enjoyed it. Have a great Memorial Day tomorrow. xo

A red one is opening this morning.
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY🇱🇷

You're right, the ant is a bonus! The video would not be nearly as wonderful without it. Peonies -- what a beautiful extravagance.

Mowing and mowing! That is spring, to so many people. My grandson mentioned that he had a lot of that to do last week. I have no lawns or grass, so no mowing, only weed pulling :-)

Gretchen Joanna -- I was excited about getting the ant in the photo of the pink peony. I have been mowing and weeding. Then weeding and mowing. But I enjoy it this time of year when it's not hot. Have a nice Memorial Day tomorrow. xo, Rosemary

It has been cool here in Georgia too! I'm not complaining, LOL. Your peony is gorgeous. Hope you are keeping well. Take care!

Kay G. -- I was born in Georgia so I understand your delight. Happy Memorial Day.🇱🇷
You can look forward to more peony photos as they open. I'm keeping well, thanks for asking. xo, Rosemary

Thank you for the lovely photos of the peony and the ant (there may be a fable about that somewhere!). I hope you finished your mowing in time to relax on Memorial Day. We've had a Spring Bank Holiday here in the UK, it used to be called the Whitsun Bank Holiday, and have enjoyed some gloriously sunny days.

Tasha T -- I am having a relaxing Memorial Day long weekend with no mowing. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed some nice sunny days for your Bank Holiday. Yes, there must be a fable about the ant and the peony. xo, Rosemary

That peony pic is just beautiful. Seeing the ant made me smile. My little grand daughter recently got a "bug kit" to help her learn about insects. She gets so excited when she sees ants. I actually learned an interesting fact. Most insects have fairly short lifespans, but there is a type of queen ant that lives up to 30 years. Amazing!

Congratulations on getting a contract on that property!

I absolutely love peonies. They are my favorite flower, and I love all flowers. Thank you for the peony post, and Happy Memorial Day, Rosemary.

Pam -- Thank you for that Queen Ant fact. Who knew she could live for up to 30 years?????? You little grand daughter must be having so much fun with her bug kit and learning a lot too. Insects are so important for the survival of our birds! I'm glad you liked my peony photos. Did you see the red one I added later to this post? xo, Rosemary

Lisa D. -- Peonies are my first flowers to bloom and they are my favorite too. They really are easy to grow and once established they can last for a very long time. I had a great Memorial Day -- hope you did too. xo, Rosemary
