This addition is very sweet, isn't it? It seems very roomy because there is no enclosure across the front as it's only a couple of steps off the ground. I love the bench near the front door and if this little window box were mine I would fill it with herbs for the kitchen. photo source
Stay safe if winter storms dump lots of snow your way. My area is expecting less that an inch but lots of heavy rain and wind later in the day and all night. Wind scares me the most.

UPDATE: TWO MORE PHOTOS ADDED TO THIS POST.
Such a pretty porch. I love when there's enough room for a place to sit and a little table to hold a drink (and a snack, of course!). I'm beginning to look forward to warmer days when we can actually enjoy being outdoors. I think we got 3-4 inches of snow but most of it has already melted, thank goodness. I hope those winds don't do any damage to your property, Rosemary.
It is really fun to see the snow and bird videos!
Thank you for posting the photo of the cottage. It's so pretty, just the sort I dream of living in, and to have herbs in the window box is a brilliant idea. No need to go outside to pick them, just open the window!
Downy Woodpecker with gorgeous plumage. I checked him out and discovered he's an inhabitant of North America, which explains why I haven't seen him in my English garden. Thank you for posting and introducing me to another new bird.
Pam -- It rained all night but I wasn't bothered by wind. This morning all of the snow is gone and I say "thank goodness" too. We were both spared and I'm happy for you. That small porch is perfect. xo, Rosemary
Gretchen Joanna -- I'm having fun now that I have learned how to post "moving" photos and I thank you for saying you like them. xo, Rosemary
Tasha T, I watch a documentary on PBS recently about woodpeckers and it was so interesting. The holes they drill are used for nesting by so many other birds who use cavities to raise their young. I'm glad you like the delightful porch. xo, Rosemary
UPDATE: I added a link for the PBS documentary about Woodpeckers. It was so good and is available to watch online. Enjoy. xo, Rosemary
