Beautiful! It's amazing that this type of tile art is in such wonderful condition considering it is so old. I just had to do a little research to learn more about it. I've never visited Portugal or Spain, but I think it would be incredibly interesting to see more of this artwork.
I've always been a fan of this beautiful tile, and have a fantasy about doing a small bathroom in it. That would probably be all I could afford! The tile work in Portugal is just amazing. It is truly gorgeous.
Mama Pea -- I think you are right, the scenic tiles have to be painted before firing. It would be like painting a jigsaw puzzle piece by piece. It's an amazing piece of art and even more impressive when you consider the process of creation. xo, Rosemary

Wow! Just wow. The individual tiles would have to be painted before application, right?
