Beautiful! It's amazing that this type of tile art is in such wonderful condition considering it is so old. I just had to do a little research to learn more about it. I've never visited Portugal or Spain, but I think it would be incredibly interesting to see more of this artwork.

I've always been a fan of this beautiful tile, and have a fantasy about doing a small bathroom in it. That would probably be all I could afford! The tile work in Portugal is just amazing. It is truly gorgeous.

Wow! Just wow. The individual tiles would have to be painted before application, right?

Mama Pea -- I think you are right, the scenic tiles have to be painted before firing. It would be like painting a jigsaw puzzle piece by piece. It's an amazing piece of art and even more impressive when you consider the process of creation.
