Oh the memories-thank you! My grandmother's home had many of these features. Dish and china cabinets between kitchen and dining room opened on both sides with a sliding wood door/window below for passing dishes through. Cups hung on hooks above the dishes. Towel drying rack behind wood stove with a kitchen match holder off to the side. Pantry / bathroom had a number of slid out cutting/work boards just about the bottom cabinets. Coat closet had lots of peg/dowels for clothes and cleaning, clothes on one side, other cleaning arranged by long handles, double row for shorter.

Dee -- Your grandmother's home sounds delightful. She must have been a great inspiration for you with all of her organizational skills. I remember those slide out cutting boards. I loved the Shaker article and have always been inspired by their neat ways.

In the chaos of our times aren't many of us looking for calming spaces and ideas that will keep us organized. The Shakers were THE masters at both of these things.

Growing up in Utah every home had a breadboard, such a practical and useful kitchen idea. Now, builders simply don't put them in, not even sure they know how. With all the baking going during Covid a pull out breadboard, I think, would be appreciated by many.
