Poppies in Bloom at My Cottage

An overnight miracle.

Four poppies bloomed.

This one befriended the giant mullein.

I am happy beyond words.

YES!

At times, if I had known what the garden would do overnite..........

I would have stayed up, in the garden, with comfortable chair and blankie !!

Best show in Town.

With your poppies.........I would have adored watching them all nite.

Tara -- All the beauty happens at night to delight us when we awake. I was really shocked to see what happened while I was sleeping and so happy I got up early to share with you. I even postponed my morning coffee to take the photos for early posting. Thanks for the mental picture of your gardenside campsite.

KMKlmp -- Of course, it was my pleasure. We've all been waiting together for the blooming of the poppies, haven't we? I was just out there watering and there are still only four. I have a hunch they only bloom at night. This is definitely a learning process. I am so glad I have something to cause anticipation now that my peonies are on their last legs.

Hurray!!!! Oh my, Rosemary, aren't they stunning!!? I love the texture and color of the mullein contrasting the delicate, brilliant petals of the poppy. I am so happy for you. When a person plants seeds, it's truly an act of faith. It brings me joy just seeing your pictures, so I can only imagine how happy it must make you. Thank you very much for sharing your home and gardens with us! xoxo

the silvery grey of the mulein is the perfect foil for the poppies!

I believe desert flowers bloom at night because the day time is just too hot for them.

lisa ... That's very interesting. That's understandable too. I wilt in the heat too.

kathiquilts ... I love the huge silvery leaves and they are perfect beside the poppies. Thanks for your comment.

Pam ... Planting these seeds in winter and having them produce flowers before the first day of summer is indeed an act of faith. I knew I would enjoy the giant mullein when I rescued it and gave it the choice spot in my new garden. It did not disappoint and turned out to be perfect. I am glad you are enjoying it virtually too along with my poppies.
