Sourdough Breadcrumbs

My 1973 Cuisinart is still working perfectly and made wonderful sourdough breadcrumbs for casserole toppings.

I never throw away glass jars and here is my breadcrumb stash to prove it. Pay no attention to the sprouting onion in the background.

Hi, your sour dough bread crumbs are wonderful idea.
We have the bread all the time. Question; do you toast the bread first before
putting in the Cuisinart?
So enjoy your cottage and your lovely antiques.

Linda A. -- No, I did not toast the bread first but i did slice into cubes before "grinding" with the Cuisinart blade. I figured I could always toast the crumbs in some melted butter before using, if necessary. I think these crumbs would be a nice topping for a chicken pot pie or a tuna noodle casserole.

Waste not, want not comes to mind. I love buttered breadcrumbs on a casserole, and sour dough bread is up there in my top 5 FAV breads. Unfortunately being pre-type 2 diabetic I have to really limit my bread intake, it's so hard.

I have a spouting onion too, it could be a twin to yours.

You could plant that sprouting onion as the beginning of a Victory Garden. :)
