Cornbread Birthday Cake for Webster

He got 2 pieces for his birthday dinner. One was broken up on top of his kibble and he ate it with great gusto. The second piece was broken up in his bowl for dessert. He was one happy dog. The other pieces are wrapped in a used bread bag for tomorrow. The birthday boy is sound asleep and it's not even dark. I have to wake him up for one final walk. xo
UPDATE: History of my cast iron pan above...how odd, it's from a blog post exactly 3 years ago to the day. This vintage pan is very rare.

Happy, happy birthday to Webster! What a great dog he seems to be. (I think you've loved and trained him well.)

Happy Birthday Webster! That's a great idea for a doggie cake! We've used muffins before for doggie birthdays. :)

Thanks everyone for Webster's birthday wishes. He has already had a wedge of cornbread over his kibble for breakfast so the celebration continues.

Oh Rosemary, I'm late for the birthday party so am sending belated greetings to Webster along with a query: what can you tell us about that marvelous baking pan, it looks to be beautifully seasoned cast iron, I've never seen a pan like that in my life and admit to pangs of desire!

Flo...I added a link from an old blog post about this fabulous vintage cast iron pan/wok. It's very rare. My friend Stacey wants me to leave it to her in my will :)

Thankyousomuch! I don't think I've ever seen a cooking vessel as elegant as this, it's a work of art in itself.

I agree with Flo about the elegance of your cast-iron wok pan.

I bet Webster fell asleep with a big smile on his face last night. Did he get seconds tonight of his birthday cake?

As long as you're bequeathing, my Chris said he would love to be included in your will. He loves that beautiful little globe with the celestial night sky inside of it. We're a greedy lot aren't we?
