I'm very upset by what I'm reading about the feud over Tasha Tudor's estate. Read more. War of the Tudors: Family Feuds of $2 Million Estate ~ another article. Such greed. The children even fought over their mother's ashes. Things aren't always as they seem.
I had a first edition of the book Bethany is holding that I loaned out and never got back. Now I don't even want it.

I don't blame you for not wanting your book back. Unfortunately my in-laws have created a very similar situation and the lawyers have had a field day. I am very thankful to be an only child. How terrible it is for a mother to pit her children against one another! Is it any wonder we love our pets so much. Unconditional love. Who is the more wise and compassionate? Certainly not humans.

It makes me so sad to hear that. I have that book also and I was a great fan of Tasha Tudor.
I posted one of Ms Tudor's old interviews on my blog a year or
so ago, and Thomas Tudor commented
on it. IIRC, he said he felt bad
for the interviewer.
The interview was conducted through
someone, and the interviewer never
got to talk to Tasha directly...
I know she said something about
9/11--that she had no interest
in current events. and Thomas Tudor
said he was working at the Pentagon
on 9/11 & that Tasha had discussed
it with him. I was wondering at
the time if maybe the interview
was a case of Fan Fiction...It
wasn't, he didn't think it had
been faked, which seemed to make
him a bit sad, and I felt bad
for getting it out of the
internet archives & posting it...
Saddening eh?

Positively shameful, for what really by today's standards is not a lot of dosh once split 4 ways. When Bethany gets her little slice of the action, I hope she treats herself to a bright new lipstick, that very pale face is in desperate need of some colour! If what was said is true, then dear old Tasha is guilty of tossing a hand grenade into the family fray & then walking away - very naughty of the old girl I reckon!

How sad but how true. Things are seldom as they appear.
Sometimes things like this are not about greed but about right and wrong but at the end of the day fighting it does no one any good apart from the lawyers . It is far too stressful - I know ! Better to stay poor and keep your health and sanity methinks !

I'm very surprised as well. I used to wonder about Tudor's family when I read about them in various magazines, and wondered what they really thought of their mother, and the lifestyle she made them lead. I always assumed they worshiped her, and were like-minded, or at least the articles made it seem. 2 million isn't really a huge sum of money, although I'm sure some of the children could use it,like the daughter in the trailer park (that was shocking also). To be honest, I never liked her illustrations. I found them very pedestrian.But her lifestyle fascinated me for its total immersion in the past, and now, reading these articles, it makes me wonder if perhaps she was seriously mentally unbalanced, and not merely eccentric. Yes,it's awful that kids will fight over an inheritance, but it seems from their comments that they had many serious issues with their mother long before her death. Still, it's sad that a talented woman who became famous, partly, for eschewing modernity would leave a legacy of familial discord.

I got here but have no clues on how. I just read this post and was astonished there was "0" comments. Your post and blog is a breath of fresh air in a climate of doggrel nonsense found on most blogs these days.
As an aside... I looked after a lady in the community and when she died, she left everything to her youngest daughter..who upon hearing this, split the estate four ways to look after her brothers and her sister WHO she did not want to see hurt. There are those out there like this, Thank goodness!
Odd timing on reading this as I had just finished reading "The Private World Of Tasha Tudor" and found it to be a wonderful book. She lived so simply.....and now THIS. Ugh. Money truly IS a burden-I'm glad I don't have enough of it to worry about.
I was a little surprised to read the terms of the will-she did seem to pit them against each other.
She would have been better off to find a wonderful charity. That would certainly have "fixed" them!
I've been a Tasha Tudor fangirl since the early 90's, and this whole debacle just saddens me.
But I wonder if part of Tasha's problem was she was unmothered herself. Her own mother didn't seem to be too interested in bonding, sending Tasha off to live with family friends, so Tasha had no examples to model herself after when her own children came along.
Although I admire her insisting on living life on her own terms, parents do need to take their children's needs into consideration.
