1 elephant (medium size)
2 rabbits
Salt & Pepper (to taste)
Cut the elephant into bite-size pieces. This will take about 2 months. Add enough brown gravy to cover. Cook over an open fire for about 4 weeks at 465 degrees. This will serve about 3,800 people. If more are expected, 2 rabbits may be added, but do this only in an emergency, as some people do not like to find a hare in their stew.

World Elephant Day 2015
On August 12, 2012, the inaugural World Elephant Day was launched to bring attention to the urgent plight of Asian and African elephants. The elephant is loved, revered and respected by people and cultures around the world, yet we balance on the brink of seeing the last of this magnificent creature.

Buy Good Goods
I love this quote by Ray Eames and I 'm crazy about this little plywood elephant too.
The Eames Plywood Elephant was designed in 1945. Conceived both as a children's toy and as a decorative interior object, this newly reproduced Plywood Elephant catches the eye with its cheerful curves and flowing shapes.
This post gets longer and longer as the day progresses. I found this great animated film about these toy elephants called A GATHERING OF ELEPHANTS. It's wonderful!

The Thanksgiving Pig
Just in case you're wondering about Piggie, he's fine. All is well and he's bonded with Webster and now they play together. Webster went through his basket of toys and pulled out a Babar stuffed toy and presented it to Piggie on the sofa this morning. It was hilarious. Actually Webster wanted his small elephant squeeky toy back and was pulling a bait and switch which did not work. Haha. Webster hasn't played with that toy in years. I was amazed that he found the only other elephant he owns for this failed mission.
A wet sleet has been falling for the last few hours but it melts as soon as it hits the ground. My outside thermometer says it's 40 degrees. I hope this doesn't present a problem later when it gets colder. I have to go out but don't have to drive more than a few blocks to have another feast with friends.
Be safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Baby Mine, Lullaby For Dumbo The Elephant
This has to be the ultimate Mother's Day lullaby. I heard it today on NPR and it made me cry. I had completely forgotten about this song written for Dumbo the Elephant. Watch if you dare. It will definitely make you shed a tear or two. Dumbo

Baby Elephant Having Fun
This photo has been everywhere and now I'm posting it too. It is such a joyful image by Michael Graham. I wish this elephant would squirt me with some nice cold water. That would feel very good in this heat.

Best of Burning Man: Art on Acid | Wacky Archives
Best of Burning Man: Art on Acid | Wacky Archives: "The Burning Man gathering is an annual event held in the Black Rock Desert of Northern Nevada. It begins the Monday prior to Labor Day and concludes on the day of the American holiday. This unusual gathering of people from all walks of life derived its name from the ritual burning of a towering wooden effigy."
The desert is the perfect backdrop for giant pieces of way-out art. I'd love to know more about this spectacular elephant house.
All I have to do is ask and usually someone helps me out. Thanks to Lee (see comments) we now have the complete history of the 45-Ton Mechanical Elephant. Thanks so much.

Elephants Reunited After 22 Years Apart
This wonderful film was created by world-renowned filmmaker Allison Argo from ArgoFilms. Read more of this story on PBS. I want to know everything there is to know about Shirley and Jenny...free at last to live out their years together. This footage proves that elephants never forget.
Shirley and Jenny, two crippled elephants were reunited at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee after a 22-year separation. The bonding was immediate, intense and unforgettable between the two former circus elephants. But long after the cameras were turned off, the wondrous moments would continue. Snif, snif.
