This wonderful film was created by world-renowned filmmaker Allison Argo from ArgoFilms. Read more of this story on PBS. I want to know everything there is to know about Shirley and Jenny...free at last to live out their years together. This footage proves that elephants never forget.
Shirley and Jenny, two crippled elephants were reunited at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee after a 22-year separation. The bonding was immediate, intense and unforgettable between the two former circus elephants. But long after the cameras were turned off, the wondrous moments would continue. Snif, snif.

Oh my. There actually were two stories to touch the heart, the parting of the gentle trainer with his elephant and the reunion of Shirley and Jenny. I hope the trainer was able to stay around to see that happy ending.
Must find a tissue.

Thank you ever so much for sharing this truly wonderful story about Jenny & Shirley, Rosemary. I always look forward to reading your blog (esp. before I go to bed), because I know what you post is going to be so uplifting.
But this - this is the best ever. These poor elephants have such a sad, heart-wrenching fate at the hands of (so-called) humans - but it's wonderful to see the healing that is taking place at this sanctuary.
What amazing creatures they are! I cried - and hope I can learn some from these angels on earth.
*snif* How sweet. Bittersweet. Thanks, Rosemary.
What an amazing story- major sniffles here. Yes, 2 wonderful stories the keeper and the elephants. Thank you so much for sharing.
snif snif is right! My heart is so heavy with mixed emotions. Thank you for sharing this.
Rosemary,
Oh my goodness, I'm still bleary eyed from this heartwarming story. How wonderful.

Hi Rosemary, I bookmarked your site a few weeks ago and came back tonight to explore some more and can truly say I look forward to the hours it is going to take me to get through the archives. Shirley and Jenny's story is lovely and when I am done tracking down more of it I will be back...something tells me you have many more "side" trips in store for me. Thanks for sharing, Beth
