DIY Sliding Barn Door Made from Recycled Fencing

We just can't get enough of these interior sliding barn doors, can we? I know I can't. Dana and Handy Hubby from House*Tweaking made one themselves from old fence boards. They show you how step by step in two blog posts starting with the old wood being transported home in the back of the car. The second part has line drawings with measurements. The photo above shows the end result. Very nice. Let me know if you make one. Part I and Part II and With Door Handles

My other blog posts about these sliding doors inside and outside.

Budget DIY Sliding Barn Doors

Do you love inside sliding barn doors but hate the cost of the hardware? This clever young lady in North Carolina substituted plumbing pipes overhead and put rolling casters on the bottoms of this pair of recycled doors. Total cost including the doors was $78.00. Genius. Barn Style Kitchen and Dining Room

I recently toured a fabulous early 19th century house with a very small dining room. Instead of putting an addition on the house, the homeowners built a barn structure with an upstairs sleeping loft instead. Here's the country kitchen view. The middle of the room is the family room for TV viewing as you will see in the next photo.

The farm table with benches makes this the perfect space for entertaining large gatherings or for housing visiting guests. It is a great no-frills space that probably wasn't that expensive to construct. I think it's an Amish-built structure. There was no agonizing about paint colors either. Pine paneling and natural wood prevailed.

More Interior Barn Doors to Love

Sliding barn doors used inside the house are a design element I love and frequently blog about. Here are two more examples you will love that use two different types of hanging hardware.

House Tour

I would love to have my washer and dryer off the kitchen like this one in a mud room.

The pink weeping cherry tree overlooking the backyard, barn and pool in the way back was very gorgeous.

I wasn't able to gain entry to the barn complex but I loved the outside.

Historic Barn with a great holiday look . . .

I drove past this great barn in Mendham, NJ today on my way to the dentist. I stopped my car on the way home to snap a couple of pictures. I wish I had seen this before Halloween last week. I hope these people leave the witch on her broom on display for a long time. Isn't it great? ♥Rosemary

My Happy Place Behind the Barn

This is what is hidden from view behind my garage/barn. This is where my compost bin lives (not shown) and where I do my repotting. The zinc container with the garbage can lid on top is full of potting soil and various gardening tools. As you can see, I am way behind with my mowing but I will eventually catch up. Can you believe this is the last day of May? Where did it go? It was unusually cool and very busy for me but it has calmed down a bit going into June and summer. xo

My peonies all i bloom -- Pink, White, and Red.

This photo is stunning when enlarged on a computer.
So happy.

Repurposed Office Door Hung On Barn Sliders

By now you know how much I love sliding interior doors hung barn style. I would never have thought of using an old office door outside a bathroom but I love this idea, don't you. This treatment was used in an Alabama log cabin.

Have a fun weekend.

Sliding Barn Doors in A House Nearby

I am still fascinated by sliding barn doors inside a home.
The door with the handle slides open to reveal stairs up to the attic and a large storage area for suitcases. So nice!

Red Barn Nearby

I took this photo yesterday. This old red barn is just down the street from the green barns. This one looks like it has seen better days and is in need of some repair before it's too late. I can't imagine this location without it.
What a difference a day makes. We had a very gray day today with a rainy afternoon. It helped with melting more snow and that's a good thing. I just hope it doesn't rain hard tonight because there's supposed to be wind too and that scares me. Fingers crossed.

Barn for All Seasons

I showed an 1840 house in Mendham NJ on Friday. I stayed behind after my customers left to take some photos of the barn. The one with the Halloween Witch was already on my camera roll and has been on my blog.

I enlarged this photo to show the pig weathervane on the cupola in the shade of an old black walnut tree. We have rain on this Sunday morning. I'm so glad I showed this property on a nice day. xo

Interior Sliding Barn Door with 6 Lights

Here is yet another wonderful interior sliding barn door only this one has 6 glazed lights. I like that feature, especially for a dining room. I like the dark charcoal paint that matches the chairs and contrasts so nicely with the white walls.

Sliding Barn Door in Bathroom

Talk about a tight space! This sliding barn door is the perfect solution for privacy while soaking in the tub.  It must be covering a window, right? Otherwise you still couldn't get into the room. via
