Orchard Floor paved w/ Fallen Apples

This photo is stunning. I want to know how the apples got so beautifully arranged. Is this an art installation or exhibit? I will post the answer later if I can find it. In the meantime, just enjoy the visual. Photo: Johnathan Ryan

I posted this photo on Instagram and got my answer. This is not staged. It is an orchard in Ireland after a Hurricane.
The storm brought a lot of rain which swelled nearby rivers and caused the field to flood.
"The flood water gathered all the apples and as it settled down it left a carpet of apples." Jonathan added.

This is how Hurricane Ophelia left the Bulmers Orchard in Tipperary, Ireland in mid October 2017

His stunning shot shows the ground covered in a carpet of apples which were blown off the trees. The apple trees which were covered in fruit are now nearly bare after the storm. Hopefully, this won't cause a cider shortage later in the year...read the article in the Irish Mirror.

DIY Wine Cork Pen/Pencil Holder

This looks like a clever gift to craft using your wine corks and your glue gun. Photo found here. Christmas is two months from today so you'd better get started.

Painted Stairs

I think this staircase is beautiful and it was clever not to paint the design on the risers, just the treads. High upkeep, but beautiful. via

Another Amazing Pie Crust

This one is extremely beautiful, a real work of culinary art. via

Lamb in The Warming Oven

via
Now I've seen everything.
Here is a very new use for the warming oven on an AGA range. Warming a new-born lamb or a spoiled pet lamb! So sweet. Have a great weekend. xo

A Loaf Cake with Fresh Cranberries

I look forward to seeing fresh cranberries in the markets so I can make this tea cake. More photos and recipe here. Looks delicious, doesn't it?

Pumpkin Fields Forever

Looks like a good harvest, doesn't it?
I wonder if this is a pick your own pumpkin field?
Hope so. They are just begging to become jackolanterns.

Yew Tree Farm, Cumbria UK

Yew Tree Farm, Lake District, England by Aidan Mincher When you see photos like this, it's easy to see why Beatrix Potter was drawn to this part of England in her later years. In 1929, when Beatrix Potter was 64 years old, the Monk Coniston estate came up for sale. The estate consisted of 2500 acres of land around the head of Coniston Water. It consisted of the well-known beauty spot Tarn Hows, seven farms including Yew Tree, Boon Crag, High Arnside, High Tilberthwaite and High Yewdale, as well as cottages, quarries and open fell land. She sold the half containing Tarn Hows to the National Trust, and bequeathed the rest of the estate to the Trust in her will. Read more here.

Cats Wearing White Collars (Ruffs)

Marie Cécile Thijs - White Collar Series
CATS WEARING AN ANTIQUE ELIZABETHAN RUFF
'White Collar' is one of the newest autonomous photo projects of Marie Cécile Thijs, which she started in 2010. The models are wearing a 17th-century antique ruff collar that belongs to the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Because this collar is so delicate and rare, it was photographed by Marie Cécile Thijs separately in the Rijksmuseum and placed afterwards on her models by way of digital imaging.
She used human models too. See all of these fabulous images here. See all 14 images here.

Shedding Light on the Old Stairs

I love this photo. The patina on these old stairs is so beautiful since they have never been painted. My trees are still green because it's been so warm but I am looking forward to fall color soon. via

This path makes my heart sing! It is so charming and old fashioned. It has stood the test of time and has aged beautifully within this lovely walled garden. Do want! via

Sorting The Pumpkins

via
I passed a pumpkin patch near my cottage recently but it was nothing like this. The pumpkins were picked and put into HUGE boxes for transporting to a local farm market. I like this arrangement better where they are being sorted and sold on site. Have you purchased your pumpkins yet? Enjoy the long Columbus Day weekend. xo

Stunning Dutch Door w/ Screen Door

Look at this! I have never loved a door more! I have never seen one flanked by double hung windows. The brass box lock and the strap hinges are nice period details. via

Ticking Slipcovers

I have always been a fan of blue and white stripped ticking. These dining room chairs look so nice in this fabric but it must have been an expensive project unless the owner sewed them herself. They would look better around a larger table or as stand alone chairs somewhere else. via
Can you believe it's October already? I have always said that the summer drags by and after Labor Day the days fly by and all of a sudden it's Christmas. See what I mean? It's true, so start getting ready! Smile.

Quirky Buildings in Paris

Where there's a will, there's a way. Somehow these two buildings got squeezed in and they are are all the more charming because they are not ordinary.
