New Favorite Place

Cantaloupe juice with mint. So delicious and refreshing. It was nice and thick like slush. I am going to try to make this at home in my Cuisinart. Just wonderful!

Wish I had one this morning.

I went out to lunch yesterday with my friend Kelly. We went to The Artist Baker in Morristown where everything was made from scratch. I should have purchased these scones for my breakfast this morning but sadly, I did not. Kale with Cheddar Cheese! Sounds delicious too.

Prettiest Kitchen Garden Ever

I posted a couple of photos yesterday and found this beautiful fenced garden while enjoying the photos of others. Isn't this the best kitchen garden ever? It's the perfect size in the perfect setting.

New Dog at My Cottage

He doesn't eat much, is very quiet, and he's house broken. Don't you love my new lamp? Found after having lunch with a friend yesterday when we stopped in a shop before I took her back to her marketing director duties at the Westmont Montessori School in Mendham. We stopped at The Grand Bazaar and we both found tons of treasures awaiting us. Next time we are going to pack a lunch and eat it on Sue's porch so we will have more money to spend on Christmas gifts and wonderful things to decorate our cottage homes. My lamp needed a little doctoring because it had just arrived and needed a little help. I was capable of doing the repairs myself and got a good price for adopting him. I love dog rescues of all kinds. Webster would have been happier if this little guy were alive to keep him company when I'm out having fun. Maybe some day.

Webster Has a Friend

We have Henry until Monday morning.

I had to put Henry in his crate when I went out to mow at noon. Webster stayed nearby to keep him company. I'm sure they both slept because they had already been on 3 walks. I finished all except the trimming which I'll do tomorrow. It was a perfect day--the long grass was nice and dry and it was fun riding around in different patterns. I'm tired but happy. It was a good day. xo

Webster has a Weekend Guest

Webster's friend Henry is spending the weekend with us and the Wonder Dog is thrilled to have some company. Webster is a great host who doesn't mind sharing. It rained most of the day but we managed to get in several walks. We'll take the last one in the dark after the evening news. Have a great weekend.

My Thanksgiving

Is there anything more beautiful than a sink full of cranberries?

I made raw cranberry relish and a cranberry/jello/pineapple dish iced with cream cheese and sour cream. I left out the nuts...recipe here. Relish: I just chopped raw cranberries in my Cuisinart in small batches. Then 2 honey crisp apples with skins on, and finally 2 oranges, seeded, with skins on. I chopped the apples and cranberries coarsely and the oranges finely until they were mostly juice. Mix all together and add a little sugar if you wish. I added about 1/3 cup for a big batch, about twice as much as you see in this bowl. The front dish is actually a pyrex loaf pan. I made the jello dish in two of them. One to take to my friend's house and one to keep for myself. That worked perfectly.

Webster got lots of treats yesterday too. The yogurt container was first, followed by pumpkin oatmeal - canned pumpkin mixed in with hot oatmeal to cool it off. 

Did you have a nice Thanksgiving yesterday? I did and have lots of leftovers to enjoy today. Yum.

Goodnight from Piggy

Piggy is fast asleep in his crate and I can hear him snoring across the room. He's exhausted, having been on three long walks since I picked him up after lunch. Webster is happy to see his little friend. Tabitha tolerates him and he ignores her and that's just perfect. His humans are on spring break. See you tomorrow.
