Inside My Cottage -- 4 Weekend Photos

Another view of this wall with the blue and white platter hung very recently and I am enjoying it so much there.

It's been a wild November for me so far. I had cataract surgery! My left eye was done on 11/2 and my right eye on 11/9 and both were very successful and I am thrilled with the outcome. Of course it's only been two days since my right eye was done and the new lens is still settling in but it's doing nicely. So many people I know have decided this was the year to finally have their eyes done and I'm glad I did too.

I have had this clear glass rabbit candy container on this windowsill for ages. His head lifts off and I use it for my small binder clips. I change the way he's looking every time I get out a clip while doing paperwork at my desk in the pantry office. He always makes me smile. The full-bodied black cat featured recently also lives in this window.

The trees are nearly bare in this kitchen window to the right of my stove overlooking my leaf-covered driveway.

Another side window in my kitchen showing a fall late afternoon sky. I took a walk outside to get some exercise and looped around my property twice. No heavy lifting, no stooping, etc. and I'm trying to be careful so my eyes will continue healing nicely. Have a great rest of the weekend. xo

I love your glass rabbit. He/she looks well against the light from the window.
Pleased to read that your double cataract op has gone well and I guess everything now appears much brighter. Take care.

Tasha T -- YES, everything is so crisp and clear and bright (but not too bright). I am very happy and my eyes are still healing so will get even better. My glass rabbit is a very distinguished "he" wearing a waistcoat and trousers.🐰 xo, Rosemary

Gail, northern California -- "I Can See Clearly Now" as the song goes and I'm thrilled. I wasn't scared but very concerned. I had numerous conversations with my surgery coordinator about the strength of my lenses. I didn't want only really far distance vision in both eyes and not be able to see mid and close. I really wanted what I had only clearer and that's what I got. I wanted to be able to walk around the house with no glasses and be able to see everything. I found a pair of my old glasses from 3 or 4 prescriptions ago and I can see to read with them. I love being able to see TV in bed without glasses. I don't have multi-vision lenses in my eyes because I wasn't eligible for them. I love my eye surgeon and her practice and I am glad I waited until I found her having interviewed others. Even my GP said I picked the right one. Thanks for your well wishes. xo, Rosemary

Hello Rosemary,

I was going through some of your older posts, when I came across the February, 2023 post of the home library. You wanted to take a tour of it if it was ever open to the public. Well, I started searching for the little library and I found the link to it, underneath your own link, of course! The little library was sold in April - https://www.nj.com/realestate-news/2023/04/once-a-pig-barn-this-nj-home-is-for-sale-at-179m.html
I'm so glad your surgery went well!
I am such a fan of your blog!

I just had my second cataract surgery today on my right eye, I think it is a miracle surgery. I have lived in my cottage for 7 years and always felt like they used the wrong white paint color. After the surgery it now looks correct. 2023 has been the year that I have addressed all my health issues which I had to put off. I also had a bladder lift surgery the first part of October and it has totally improved my life dramatically. I consider it another miracle surgery. I think I'm good to go for another 100,000 miles Like you the new lenses need to still settle in a bit.

It's always a delight to peek into your cottage Rosemary.

Gail, northern California -- Gail, I don't know how long the multi-focus lenses for cataract surgery have been available but they are definitely here (and very expensive). My driver for my second surgery to the eye hospital 40 minutes away said his wife got them, couldn't adjust, and had them removed. They must be like progressive lenses in eyeglasses that take time to adjust. Anyway, I don't mind wearing glasses and I am very pleased with my outcome in every way. Now you know about advances in eye surgery. xo, Rosemary

Victoria -- So glad to hear your eye surgeries are over and you are doing well and are pleased. I am having the opposite reaction to color with my eyes. If I could edit mine like I do photographs I would make the colors a tad warmer (adding more yellow). I did color comparisons after the first surgery and the grass looked greener with my unoperated eye. This would not be noticeable to most people and it's really not a bother with this "miracle" surgery. I love being able to watch TV in bed without my glasses! So many people I know are choosing this year to have new eyes. One of my friends got far vision lens in one eye and reading/near vision lens in the other. I considered this but reconsidered. I'm pleased with what I ended up with! Keep me posted after your one-month exam.
