A Wonderful Dog Painings🐾♡

Arthur Wardle, R.I., R.B.C. (1864-1949)
Waiting for master, a wire coated fox terrier
Sold at Christie's in 2012. I have always loved this breed.
Isn't this a delightful rendering of man's best friend?

Rosemary, thank you for posting this painting by Arthur Wardle. He is one of my favourite artists and fox terriers are one of my favourite dogs. I had a foxie when I was growing up, and have very fond memories of her. She had to put up with a lot when I dressed her up in doll's clothes and paraded her around the garden in my doll's pram! She was always so patient ....

Tasha T -- What a delightful story about your childhood pet Fox Terrier. I have always liked that breed and Airedales too. Lucky you for having had a Foxie. I once showed a house with a pair of miniature Fox Terrier/miniature dachshund mixes called Foxie Doxies! They were beyond adorable. You should print this Arthur Wardle painting and frame it as a remembrance of your very own pup. xo, Rosemary

Thankful you thought to post this.

Made me realize it's been since childhood, commonly seeing a wide variety of dog breeds.

Tasha T I can just see your childhood doggie play/dress-up !

Tara Dillard -- I never see the common breeds from my childhood. Collie dogs and cocker spaniels especially. It's nice to see paintings of old breeds and hear stories about friends who had them and dressed them in doll clothes. xo, Rosemary

What a great painting! I like this artist's style, too. Is that a boot scraper I spy on the lower left corner?

Pam -- I'm so glad you spotted the boot scraper. I totally missed it. I like this artist's style too and he certainly captured this Wire Fox Terrier. I love it. xo, Rosemary

This painting is just precious. You can just feel this dog's love and sweet disposition.

Lisa D. -- Agreed. The dog is precious and the artist is so talented. I hope the dog didn't have to wait too long for his master to come home. xo, Rosemary
