Beatrix Potter ♡ Four Illustrations Today ♡

We have a little garden,
A garden of our own.

Female rabbit entering her burrow.

Gentlemen came every day,
Till Cecily Parsley ran away.

... And this pig has none.

Illustrations from:
Cecily Parsley's nursery rhymes

Enjoy! xo

Ah, yes, Beatrix Potter illustrations are so special. I have an early edition of 'Appley Dappley Nursery Rhymes' which was given to my father when he was learning to read as a child. How wonderful it would be to be able to travel back in time and to meet Beatrix at Hill Top Farm and chat. Thank you so much for posting, Rosemary.

Tasha T -- You are so fortunate to have your father's childhood books that he read when Beatrix Potter was still alive. The internet has almost enabled us to go back in time and chronicle her life from the very beginning. She left her mark in many ways, buying up farms to protect them from development, raising heirloom sheep, and leaving her properties and cottages on 4,000 acres to The British National Trust. What a treasure! I have never been to the Lake District. Sigh.

These charming illustrations made me smile. I might be a bit partial to the potato-peeling pig, though. Beatrix Potter's work is a treasure.

Pam -- I liked the potato-peeling pig too since it was new to me. Glad you enjoy Beatrix Potter's work

Lisa D. -- Beatrix Potter illustrations are always delightful. You never outgrow them either no matter how old you get. They bring out your inner child.
