Rabbit Rabbit -- Hello February

The phrase rabbit rabbit is a long-held superstition thought to bring about good luck. But it's not to be uttered just any old random day. If you say it on the first day of the month, before any other words come out of your mouth, then luck will be coming your way.

I have always loved this rabbit pattern in navy blue designed by William Morris in 1882.  I have seen the wallpaper but never the fabric. The pattern was a tribute to the Uncle Remus books, first published in 1881, and a favourite of the Morris family.

Thank you, Rosemary. Here in England the saying is "White Rabbits", but it has to be said before midday to ensure good luck! So, hoping you read this before midday "White Rabbits"!

"White Rabbit!" "Rabbit, Rabbit!" I am saying these both before midday in our time zone. This seems very appropriate for me as my husband and I just minutes ago finished a discussion on making this whole month of February a different one for me!

Mama Pea -- How wonderful for you to try mixing things up in February. I hope saying the magic words ,White Rabbit and Rabbit Rabbit will work with positive results. I just got invited to a friend's house for dinner tonight so mine is already working. xo, Rosemary

Once again, I'm learning new things. I've heard "rabbit rabbit" and knew it was spoken for good luck, but I didn't know anything else about it. I'd never heard of "white rabbit" either. Beautiful wallpaper!

Pam -- I haven't said "rabbit rabbit" since high school but I wanted something to go with the William Morris paper and it was perfect for the first day of February. xo, Rosemary

I didn't know about "rabbit, rabbit" OR the lovely William Morris design. Thank you for the enlightenment, and in the case of Morris, the design to delight the eyes.

I'm sure you must know that in the Chinese New Year this is the year of the rabbit. I actually love rabbits and at one time had them as pets. They can make adorable pets, and contrary to what many people believe, they are very smart creatures. They do, however have an amazing proclivity to produce many more of their species!

Lisa D. -- I knew about the Rabbit being the symbol of the Chinese New Year. I have always heard they make wonderful pets and you were lucky to have them. In the wild they don't live very long so they must reproduce to beat the odds. The lifespan of wild cottontail rabbits is 15 months. xo, Rosemary
