Random Views Around My Cottage Today

A geranium in front of one of my living room's newly washed windows looking out across the street at my neighbor's red garage/barn and some lovely fall foliage.

A bloom on a Limelight hydrange in the front.

My newly painted picket fence that houses my gas and electric meters and my air conditioning unit. I love the artichoke finial on the corner post.

Big long pinecones gathered from one of my Norway Spruce Trees.

This photo is right out of my camera phone and the sky really was this exact color. The deer in silhouette looks as if he's leaping over my kitchen wing's roof. I am so enjoying looking out on him.

Enjoy your evening or your Friday morning dependending when you open my blog. xo

The squirrels here have been stripping the pine cones down to the very core—so very hungry. The lack of rain has not been a good thing. Things are looking great around your cottage.

JudyMac -- I hardly ever see a squirrel but when I start feeding the birds I'm sure they will come around. We had a long dry spell in New Jersey but I think we have recovered. All you can do is keep your bird baths filled until you get some much needed rain in Georgia. Things are very colorful and might be at their peak this weekend. Some trees are already almost bare. I'm trying to decide whether or not to do a final mowing. Still have to pull up the dahlias but keep putting it off. xo, Rosemary

I love all your posts but the images of your home and grounds are my favorite. You have everything looking 'spic & span.'

Your cottage always looks so welcoming. I love the view out toward your barn and your geraniums like that spot, too. There's nothing like the brilliant blue skies of fall on a clear day. Such a great backdrop for your deer. You certainly pour your heart into making your home special and it shows. Have a good weekend, Rosemary!

Eileen in Fla. -- Eileen, Thank you. I think I must be overdoing it a little because I cleaned my basement last night in my dreams😂 I went over all the floors with my vacuum cleaner with a bag in it and then went over everything again with my bagless one. I had already planned to vacuum down there but hadn't considered doing it twice. Anyway, I am so happy I have accomplished so much this year. Do they still sell Spic & Span? That was what my mother used and she kept a really clean house. Have a great weekend. xo, Rosemary

Pam, Thanks so much. My home is special and I want to keep it that way. I have always loved fixing things and dreaming up ways to make my cottage stand out. I finally have a small team to help me do things I can't do myself and that's a great comfort. I am getting them jobs with friends too. Fall is a great time to wrap things up before winter. Hope you have a great weekend too. xo, Rosemary

What a lovely view from your living room window, Rosemary, and those long pine cones remind me of a pangolin. They are such unusual and exotic creatures.

Lisa D. -- Thank you. I have seen several nature programs about pangolins. You are right, these pinecones look like their scales. Have a good weekend. xo, Rosemary
