Rainbow Over My Cottage + A Project

This rainbow appeared Tuesday evening after my handyman left after doing rotten wood repairs. I was still outside cleaning up when it started to rain very gently and this beautiful rainbow appeared over my cottage. I was so happy to be outdoors to see it and luckily I had my phone in my pocket. The rainbow seems to be pointing to my roof so maybe it approves of the repair. I think it's blessin my cottage and all of my workers.♡🌈♡ The painters got here a little after 7am this morning to get an early start before it gets too hot. I did my wood repair with the product I ordered and now it has to harden until it can be sanded tomorrow. I was going to document the process with photos but my fingers were covered in the stuff and I could barely open my door let alone take a photo. xo

Am I the only one who always does projects at the kitchen table no matter how messy? I have always considered setting up a flat working space in my basement but knew in my heart of hearts I would probably end up at the kitchen table anyway. http://www.abatron.com/

What a great photo! It does look like the rainbow is smiling down on your home. You've gotten so much done, lately. I'm really impressed by the way you research and find products that will do the job, then you take care of business. Way to go, Rosemary. Have a great weekend! xo

Your rainbow picture is lovely. It's unusual to catch one that is so defined! Your lawn area there looks much like ours. We're ending our summer with a lack of rain again and are having to water the garden to insure a good harvest of the various crops. We don't water the lawn areas so they have to make it on their own! Since the kitchen is the heart of the home, our kitchen table, like yours, is often used for projects not meant to be eaten!

Mama Pea -- It's really hard to kill the grass. I've been told mine is dormant and will come back. I have no interest in gardening or grass cutting with this house painting project. I'm glad to hear your kitchen table is often used for non-food projects too. That's what farm tables are for! Try as I may and try as I might, mine isn't cleaned off totally very often. Mainly when I have friends coming over. I hope your vegetable garden items are doing well with your watering. I know how you depend on them with your canning and preserving for the winter. xo, Rosemary

Pam -- You would be surprised at the number of people who rely on me for information of all kinds. They know I keep a record of good workers and know a lot about home maintenance. Realtors call me all the time for names. I only share my hardest workers like the painters I have now and my handyman with close friends. I am sold on that wood repair product. It dried rock hard quickly and when sanded down it is making an invisible repair that is better than the original wood. So many contractors wanted me to remove all of my real wood siding in the front and replace it with cement board. I got one estimate of $11,000. to do that! It is going to look brand new pretty soon with my repairs, caulk, and sanding. I am thrilled. The company that makes the wood repair product also makes several for cement. That's my next project. Taking care of my house is never ending. Thanks for all your frequent comments. xo, Rosemary

I love your blog! Even though I am kinda new at this, I find the info you share wonderful! I so enjoy checking in on your site to see what new and interesting thing you have to share. Taking good care of an older home is never-ending as I have discovered in renovating my grandparents old cabin in the mountains. Labors of love.

I do love how you do the research and then just dig in. I do love doing things around the house that can be done by me. I think alot of people are afraid to try and do it by themselves. thanks for sharing!

Noelle -- Once I find a new product for fixing my house and learn how to use it online and on YouTube, I dive right in. My siding looks brand new after the repairs, the sanding and priming and the new paint. Several contractors wanted me to replace the siding entirely. They should be ashamed of themselves. I am tempted to invite them over to let them see how wrong they were. Thanks for the pat on the back. xo, Rosemary
