Thursday, May 19, 2022

For the last two years, a hopeful owl named Luna has tried to be a mom. Sadly, however, despite her best efforts, things just didn’t pan out. “Not only did her eggs fail to hatch this year, but she also lost her clutch last year,” Robert E. Fuller, a British wildlife rehabilitator, wrote. But this year, Luna’s wish finally came true.

When Fuller came to learn of two owl chicks who’d become orphaned and were in need of a parent, his thoughts turned to Luna. Knowing that her maternal instincts were going unfulfilled again this year, he decided to introduce Luna to the two needy babies.

Fuller placed them inside her nest, awaiting her return. But would she accept them?

Footage of what happened in the video above erased all doubt.
Have you ever seen such a joyful reaction??????
Love at first sight.🦉♡♡
This wonderful story was found here.

Watch this 28 minute film when you have time
It's by
Robert E.Fuller too and is entitled

PS: I read some of the comments on YouTube and found this one.
"Even better is knowing Luna was a foster owlet too."
Isn't that amazing????? Do you think she remembers she was a foster child?
This story just keeps getting better and better.
Another commenter said HE WAS RAISED BY OWLS😂

Oh my, Rosemary, you found a real treasure here. Such a beautiful example of nurturing. I know some folks don't believe animals have the ability to love, as we define it, but I believe they might know more about genuine love than some humans! I'm gonna show this to my family!

Mama Pea -- I have watched that video so many times. Those two orphans were put in the nest while Luna was out. She had no idea motherhood was on the way until she entered. Her surprise and instant love is so amazing to watch. I just love it!!!

Here is a 28 minute movie by the same photographer and lovely man about two owl chicks from the minute they hatched until they fledged. It is wonderful. Here's the link. I will add it to my post:
"Tawny Owl Chicks Flourish Against All Odds" It shows a lot of the Yorkshire Dales countryside too and the nestbuilding by the filmmaker/photographer. Enjoy! xo, Rosemary

Pam, I agree wholehearted with you. Luna is a wonderful example of an animal's ability to show love. I added a link for a 28 minute film for you to enjoy with your family about two owls from the time they hatched until they flew the nest. xo, Rosemary

I just finished watching the 28 minute video and enjoyed every bit of it! Such high quality documentation of this wonderful owl family. It's amazing how devoted both mom and dad were. And those little ones grew up so quickly. There are many difficulties in our world, but watching this video did my heart good. Thanks so much, Rosemary!!
