Firewood Quote

I've never heard this firewood quote.
found on Tumblr

The Henry Ford quote is more familiar.

I hadn't heard that saying either, but it's certainly true! We had two wood-burning fireplaces at our farm and they sure could eat a lot of wood. When we were younger, we were able to cut/chop/split/stack without much trouble. Not so much as we've gotten older;)

one doesn't think about the sheer size of that wood...
until seen in relation to the dog! and it's a wonderful quote.
I have never seen it either. we lived in Colorado once when I was quite small. Mother had never used a wood burning stove and had trouble. we ate cold cereal in our snow suits! LOL.

tammy j -- Tam, I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time but picturing eating cold cereal while wearing a snowsuit made me laugh. We had a coal burning furnace at one of my childhood homes and I can remember being cold a lot at night when we lived there. Our parents had a much harder time than we can possibly imagine, didn't they? xo, Rosemary

Pam -- Having a huge woodpile like the one in the photo has only kept the owners once. They still have to split the logs before they can burn it. I would like to see the whole setup so I could see how they reach the top tier. You can certainly relate to the process if you and your husband had to cut you wood too. My house would be a lot warmer if I didn't have a fireplace. Even though the flue is closed, a lot of my warm air goes up the chimney. Stay warm and cozy. xo, Rosemary
