❤️Vintage Spools of Sewing Thread❤️

I have a huge stash of vintage sewing thread on old wooden spools and I am always rummaging in the containers trying to find the perfect color for a mending project and I am almost always successful. via

I have been collecting thread ever since I was a young girl. My mom hated sewing/mending, but I enjoyed it. I have a big old fabric bag filled with spools of thread (some are wooden), ribbons, trim, buttons, etc. When everyone was scurrying to make Covid masks, I got a call from a friend who was couldn't buy elastic anywhere. I dug through my bag and there was enough elastic to make 30 masks. I didn't sew any of them, but it sure felt good to be able to contribute. I love the picture of those old wooden spools. Reminds me of my grandmother's stash. Some things are truly worth holding on to!

Me, too. Love the wooden spools. Salley Mavor has done something similar with her collections of old threads and related sewing notions. She does lovely embroideries.
