Beloved Independent Bookstores

I've been in this one. Baldwin's Book Barn.
You could easily get lost there.

Architectural Digest has an interesting article: Inside the world's most beloved independent bookstores. Read here.

I know many folks use their devices to read, and that simplifies life for lots of people, but when I sit down to read for relaxation, I want a book! When I read to my grand daughter, I see the way she loves to touch every single page. It's a special experience. These are difficult times for many independent bookstores and they need our support. I could probably live happily for the rest of my days in Baldwin's Book Barn.

Caroline -- Thank you so much for pointing out the correct link for the Architectural Digest article on bookshops. I fixed the link within my blog post.

Pam -- I went to Baldwin's Book Barn with a friend and we split up. It took us forever to find each other when we finished. A bookshop is a great place to get lost.

There's a wonderful bookstore in Portland called Powell's. I've never been there, but I understand they have just about every book imaginable.

Lisa D. -- I've heard of Powell's and looked it up. It's supposed to be the world's largest independent bookstore.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Strand Bookstore during my first ever visit to the Big Apple. I shipped a load of books back home as they would have been too heavy to carry on the plane. That was in the early days of stores handy where you could obtain boxes and have them shipped on-the-spot.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Strand Bookstore years ago during my first visit to the Big Apple. Bought a huge stack and had them shipped back home. Great bookstore. I also discovered a few interesting bookstores in Paris, one in particular had books piled to the ceiling. Could have stayed in there all day, but just couldn’t stay that long.
