What a stunning renovation & how satisfying it must be for the owner. I admit I would have found it difficult to live with a frequently flooded basement, but her patience paid off.

...all is grace!

Such a great article on this home's restoration. I really like that the architect/designer/builder incorporated items that were meaningful to the homeowner. Thanks, Rosemary!

Now that'a the way renovations should be done, inside and out. They did it the right way. I can understand updating the plumbing and wiring but I get so tired of the wrong people buying old homes and modernizing them beyond recognition. Case in point, that lovely farmhouse sink they salvaged. That would cost a fortune to replicate! You know, I recently signed up for a subscription to "Traditional Home". Evidently, they no longer understand the term "traditional"

What a fantastic home! I love some many things about it, the porch, the floors, that kitchen sink!!, and just the story of it. The homeowner is a very lucky, and creative, lady.

Oh that home is wonderful !! I miss my 1890's home that I rescued in AL. We sold it in December 2017 and moved here to VA into a 1910 that I completed last Fall.

My home in AL used my salvage stash as well . I had them build a winder staircase to access the converted attic that we made into a large living space. I had 2 salvaged soapstone sinks one for my garden room and one for my kitchen. Salvage marble completed a coffee counter. I had salvaged windows too for all my kitchen cupboard doors. So many wonderful memories seeing Jane's lovely home. Thank you for posting. c

Stunning renovation! Jane kept all the existing charm and added in her own. As a woman with a 'stash' closet and basement, I totally understand her purchases saved for just the right moment :) Never leave something behind just because you don't currently have a place for it. One of my most favorite house renovations ever! Thanks, Rosemary.

Hello Everyone -- I am thrilled you are all loving this charming renovation so much. It really is special and Jane has such good taste. She was so fortunate to find the right workmen and now she's going to marry the plumber! I love a story with a happy ending.
