Stair Treads with a Painted Carpet

Designer Raquel Garcia’s Connecticut home.

I woke up really early this morning and decided to try to schedule my two Covid-19 vaccinations on the CVS site. When I first logged on around 4:30 there were appointments open in almost every city on the New Jersey site. I think there must have been too many people trying to do the same thing because I kept ending up on a page that said Check Back Later. Sometime around 6:45 all the towns started showing up as FULLY BOOKED but I checked the Appointment Link and still got one for my first shot this Thursday and my second vaccine on April 1st. I am thrilled. Make sure your wallet is handy with all of the required identification card numbers even though there is no cost. The appointment confirmation comes in a text plus an email and it's very comprehensive and there's even a link for directions if the CVS is an unfamiliar town.

I could walk to the CVS near me but my appointment is around 25 minutes away but I've been to the area before and I don't have to travel on a highway so I am not complaining.  https://www.cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine

Good for you,Rosemary It will be worth the extra drive..I had my first dose last week and also had to travel to another town about 30 minutes away. In the meantime, thanks again for your lovely posts , xo

Thrilled that you were able to book your shot, Rosemary! I'm still waiting to hear about my second one, but am very optimistic. Although there is much controversy, I truly believe the vaccines are our greatest chance to return to a more normal life.

Love that stairway--subtle paint, yet it makes a big impact.

You were lucky to get an appointment on the first day you tried! Here in Oklahoma we don't have shots available at pharmacies yet. We have to go through hospitals and health depts. It took me 3 days of hitting 'refresh' every 15 minutes for several hours a day. But thankfully my husband and I will be getting our 1st dose on Friday!

Weeks ago, Cape Cod wasn't receiving much vaccine and so I booked an appointment at the closest mass vaccination site that was a 3 hour round trip drive. Looking forward to my 2nd shot and all that it might entail. Be well, be safe.

annette -- Good for you. I decided to take the first appointment I could get instead of waiting for the CVS nearest me. Looks like you did the same thing.

Pam. Yes those stairs make a real statement.
I just learned you can wait as long as 42 days to get your second shot but you should try to get yours as soon as possible. I wouldn't wait to be notified. Many sites let you choose which shot you want, first or second? CVS scheduled both for me at the same time. Now I don't have to go through the ordeal again to get my second one.

Brigid -- This wasn't my first time trying, but it was first DETERMINED TRY. I gave up on the hospital and my own health provider because both were impossible. The same held true with my County MegaSite. Leave it to a drug store chain to come to my rescue👏 I'm happy you got through so you and your husband can get the first dose next week.

itztru -- Congratulations! That was good thinking and you are much braver than I am these days. I will do anything to avoid major highways. Maybe you can get your second shot a little closer to home. Fingers crossed.

Hello All -- I read a very inspiring story this morning on the Washington Post about a 15 year old boy who is helping people get appointments:

It shouldn't be this hard and hopefully it will get easier with time.

Rosemary . . . I'm thrilled for you to have made these appointments and for your remarks which encourage folks to be diligent in the search for their own.
As of this past Tuesday, we now dose #2 on board. Advice to you and everyone : Don't plan for an extra special treat/important occasion the day or perhaps two after your second shot. Seems pretty predictable based upon what we experienced and have learned from others to expect "flu" like symptoms (fatigue, muscle aches easily managed with tylenol).

Linda -- Thank you for posting your side effects from shot #2. Good to know and prepare for. I am very relieved to have my appointments and am glad I waited this long so I don't have to cancel because of snow.

You are one smart cookie, Rosemary, to wait until the threat of snow had passed and be willing to drive a few miles. I've had both shots of the Moderna. First one, sore arm with a mild feeling of being a little "off". Second one, sore arm--otherwise just fine. Good luck. I'll be thinking about you this Thursday and sending best wishes!
