This rich dark iced coffee with lots of milk or cream looks absolutely delicious. I am posting this photo because of the wide mouth mason jar. I recently found one that is perfect for making my morning smoothie. I had been using a blender but too much was left behind on the sides of the glass container and I had to figure out a better way. Now I dump all of my ingredients into my large mason jar and stick in my immersion blender and it works beautifully, even with frozen blueberries. Then I eat it with a spoon right out of the jar. I rinse off the blender and put it away and am left with only a mason jar and a spoon to wash. xo

It's hard to beat glass, in my opinion. I love mason jars. My mother-in-law gave us some beautiful old greenish blue jars popular many years ago. I treasure them!
YUM! This looks fabulous! I'm going to try it tomorrow morning. I LOVE my coffee in the morning, but with this hot, miserable weather we're having in NorCal, and all the fires, I don't need the extra warm-up. Thanks Rosemary. You are a peach!
Recipe, please!
Lisa -- I pour one cup of soy milk into my jar. You can use any liquid of your choice. I add two tablespoons of ground flaxseed meal or grind my own. When I have it, I add one tablespoon of nutritional yeast. I am out of it now and can't find it anywhere. I have tried adding one tablespoon of chia seeds but don't like the way they stick to my teeth. Then I add 2/3 cup frozen fruit or a banana. I prefer blueberries or mango and buy large bags of both. Fresh peaches or other fruit are good too. I could never blend this recipe in my blender without adding more liquid. I usually stir the mixture up with a spoon after adding the frozen blueberries and let it sit for a minute or two. The blueberries start defrosting immediately. I love using my stick blender and wish I had started using it for smoothies long ago. You can add leftover coffee to thin it if necessary. I have some protein powder made from 100% organic green peas and I often add two tablespoons to get 27 grams of protein to jumpstart my day. I pretty much eat a plant based diet and it's hard to get enough protein. It's called NAKED PEA from NAKED NUTRITION. I ordered it online and it's pretty tasteless in a smoothie. Most days I forget to add it. Today I will remember because I have a new listing and I have been killing myself to get it together and I need all the boosts I can get. xo, Rosemary
Pam -- I have three of those old blue Ball jars with zinc lids that are lined with white milk glass. Unfortunately the opening is too small for my stick blender but I use them for storage of rice, popcorn, etc. I love mine too.

lisa -- Mother Nature is on a non-stop rampage and your poor California seems to be getting the brunt of her rath. Stay strong and enjoy your iced coffee.

I drink iced coffee each afternoon during summer months. YUM! Lisa, my sister lives in the north state and the smoke is awful I understand. Another reason for wearing a mask. Cross fingers that temps will cool because it is not going to rain! I am a transplanted north-stater.
I do a frozen banana, frozen peach and blueberries in the Vita Mix with water and raw cashews.
Makes two big thick glasses full. One for me and one in the fridge. Very creamy. Easy to clean the Vita Mix
just some water and let it blend- rinse- done.
Joanne S -- Lucky you having a Vita Mix. I would be tempted to buy one too if they came out with an all glass container. I have a stash of frozen bananas in my freezer when I run out of any other fruit. Thanks for the recipe.

Franki -- Fingers crossed for your sister's fire situation in Northern California. I also enjoy an iced coffee in the afternoon if I have any leftover morning coffee.

I am hooked on Starbucks Frappuccino. I have one every day, I really should try iced coffee.
We ONLY have mason jars in our beach house- after shopping the farmer's markets and farm stands we keep them with labels and all and love them...they're easy to freeze, etc. I love your blog by the way and have been following you for years (Tamara from Nest by Tamara blog at nestnestnest.blogspot.com :)
I would love to switch to a plant based diet, but I have a family member who is anemic, so I have to make sure he gets enough iron.
Thank you for the recipe. I'm amazed you can put all of that in your drink, and it still tastes good. I think it was the picture that had me hooked. I will probably just stick to iced coffee with cream or milk and some sugar.
