Famous Overstuffed Blueberry Muffins

These muffins are a clone of "The Famous Jordan Marsh Blueberry Muffins" — which were indeed famous up until the mid-1990s, when Jordan's, one of Boston's two iconic department stores (Filene's being the other) was absorbed by Macy's and effectively disappeared. These overstuffed muffins, with their signature sugary crown, were served in the Jordan Marsh dining room on the top floor of the store, where dedicated shoppers went to rest and compare purchases while sipping tea and enjoying a muffin — blueberry, of course. See recipe here. I always have a large bag of blueberries in my freezer. Enjoy. xo

Thank You, Rosemary, for offering us not only this blueberry muffin recipe, but also the video of Gesine Bullock-Prado's tutorial! I learned so much from this! Much appreciated!

Thank you for this delicious recipe and thank you even more for the lovely memories.
The Jordan Marsh store here in Miami was wonderful. It was within view of Biscayne Bay (now there are dozens of high-risers there). I enjoyed shopping there with my mother and then resting and recharging at the café where we always had finger sandwiches and muffins with our coffee.
Why have decorum and loveliness disappeared?

A cup of tea and a muffin while shopping. Good Lord, Rosemary, given today's conditions that's like another world, another planet! "Mid-1990's" seems a lifetime ago. So much has changed and not for the better.

Patricia -- Maybe this is the time to bring back the white gloves. I have fond memories of shopping and luncheons with my lovely mother too.

Gail, northern California -- Gail, Mid-2019 seems like a lifetime ago to me. At least we are left with bittersweet memories of days gone by in a simpler world and a planet that hadn't been abused. I am not a shopper but enjoyed it with my mother. I've been thinking of you lately and hope you aren't near the current fires in California.

I remember getting these in the bakery in the Basement in the Boston store with my mother back in the 1970's! I love these!
thank you

The last few weeks we've had fires all around us with choking smoke. This morning dawned cooler and we are most grateful they are finally getting the upper hand on the fire lines. October is when we usually enjoy our first rains--still a long, stressful, ways to go. In the meantime, we experienced six earthquakes late one afternoon. To no one in particular, I said, "OK that's enough!"

There used to be so many fabulous stores and shops in San Francisco. I was born and grew up in the SF Bay Area. It's changed so much, and not for the better. My mother used to take my brothers and me to the city at Christmas time and look at all of the beautiful store windows and go inside the stores. It was magical. We would meet my father for lunch. He worked in the financial district. I had a wonderful childhood. The world was different then. I'm lucky to look back on my childhood with fondness.

I was about to make these and realized 1/2 butter was too much. I may relent if I can lose some weight first. They look delicious and I love that it calls for so many blueberries.
