First Grocery Store Run in Months

I ventured into the real world today at 10:00 this morning and went to the grocery store. The timing was perfect as was the experience. I found everything I needed and the store wasn't crowded. I have been shopping with curbside pickups at local small markets but they don't have coffee, avocado oil, and things like that. My local Shoprite had it all including Gold Medal Flour. My wire holder is full of fresh fruit and my pantry is well stocked once again.

I mentioned Tubi.TV, a FREE streaming service, in the comments recently and I am loving it. The movies are great, the commercials are short and the TV shows are amazing. I am watching Midsomer Murders in the TV section and they offer all 19 seasons. I suggest jumping in with season 14 with the new DCI (Detective Chief Inspector) Barnaby. He is a cousin of the old Barnaby who retired. He and his dog Sykes are alone in the first few episodes like two bachelors before his wife joins him. In short time she gets rid of all the boxes and decorates their charming cottage in Oxfordshire. She has great taste; I could move right in and not change a thing! The village is full of quirky characters and each episode has a crime that is solved. Set in the Cotswolds, the fictional town called Causton is actually filmed in the market town of Wallingford in Oxfordshire.

Let me know how you like Tubi. Download the app for your phone or iPad from the Apple App Store or Google Play for android devices. Watch on a computer too with my link. Enjoy. xo

Your fruit looks delicious and I can almost smell those oranges. The past 10 weeks have impacted us in many ways, and I hope I never take fresh produce for granted again. We've only gone grocery shopping two times. There were many empty shelves the first time, but this week when I went, I found everything on my list. Feeling grateful!

Hello and thank you for the info on Tubi. Midsomer is such a fun show. We call it Misnomer as my husband mis-read the title when we first watched it. It's odd all the things we took for granted before the virus, we have to be much more mindful now in doing the little tasks like shopping. That may be an upside in a way.

stacey -- I shall call it Misnomer too when my friend and I share comments about what we've watched. I have had to start a journal to keep up with episodes I have watched on various series so I don't waste time watching something I have already seen. You are right about the upside to this virus. Little tasks have now become much more meaningful. I have always put off grocery shopping until I was desperate and I had not been in a store since mid March. Running out of coffee is certainly an emergency in my book!

Pam -- I had the same experience at my supermarket with fully stocked shelves. I forgot to buy celery and popping corn but I won't rush out to shop again until I run out of something critical. I have gotten very good at "making do" with what is on hand. I'm feeling grateful too.

I love watching Midsomer Murders. I love looking at the English gardens and houses. The plots are good and nonviolent. Britbox has Midsomer Murders too and some on Acorntv also. I tried them on tubi and watched some I hadn't seen in a while.

jane -- I was surprised at the number of Britbox, AcornTV, BBC, and PBS shows available free on Tubi. I'm glad you found a few episodes of Midsomer Murders to watch again. I love looking at the English gardens and houses too.

There is someone who comments with the name of UNKNOWN and I am fearful of posting unless someone has a true user name. I copied this comment left today since it sounds authentic:

"So glad to learn about Tubi. It's working better than expected, even though we have very slow DSL service out in the country. Could not find the new version of Midsomer with the nephew, but now noticed you pointed out that it starts with season 14. I think we just (re)watched S1 E 01! Too bad they don't have a category of just British shows. Again, THANK YOU for the tips on how to find TUBI."

My reply: There are over 20,000 tv shows on TUBI going all the way back to the beginning of television. Use the search box if you have a favorite show because it's probably there. While writing this comment I decided to look at TUBI on my phone. I clicked on EXPLORE and all the categories came up. Then I chose TV DRAMAS where Midsomer Murders and Doc Martin appeared right away along with many, many more. Good luck finding your favorite shows. On my iPad I can search for a specific title. I haven't experimented too much on my computer since my iPad is my preferred media device.
