My little wrens are back putting new twigs in this tin birdhouse on my balcony. They have been busy throwing out the top layer and replacing with new twigs. I love hearing them sing their hearts out on my balcony railing.
I follow this account on Instagram @gncgarden and thought you would like to see more planted baskets in an amazing garden in Denmark. I can appreciate all the work involved in the perfection of Gina's garden but no longer feel compelled to attempt coming anywhere close at my cottage. I know my limitations and am happy with what I achieve with no outside help.
Happy Friday. xo

This is just gorgeous...love the blooms in white which show up beautifully against the green background.
I have a large property as well Rosemary, though perhaps not as much mowing as you have. I do every bit of my yard work & must use discretion in what I tackle, but I really do a lot. My property is quite rocky & I have hauled enough rocks in the 8 years I have lived here to do for a lifetime...but there are more projects on my horizon & some will require a rock border. I've never been a fan of exercise or going to a gym, but stay in shape by doing all my own work...much like you.
...all is grace!
Anita ~ the cabin on the creek :: I can mow anywhere and never hit a rock because over the years I have removed them. This year I feel as if I am clearing a jungle of invasive weeds with very woody stems. I could get discouraged but little by little I am mowing and mulching them to bits. It's good to connect with another DIY land owner.

It's certainly beautiful. Have you thought of hiring someone with a herd of goats to remove your weeds?
Who can resist perfectly pruned spherical globes of boxwoods...and add baskets containing an array of white Spring bulbs, an urn and a darling King Charles Spaniel...and it's sheer delight!! When I was much younger and agile, I would tirelessly tend my garden but have since accepted my limitations and therefore content myself with watching it all grow in a riotous, natural way...which the birds, deer, etc. all seem to appreciate equally as much...well, I've read numerous times that birds actually prefer a more natural looking landscape as opposed to highly manicured. How wonderful that you have so many birds including your resident Wrens! We've been wondering where ours are and then just today we did finally hear them nearby, thankfully!!
Love seeing your birdhouse with the little wren. Even though our temperatures have plummeted, the birds continue to build their nests and search for food. Although I can appreciate the beautiful garden and baskets of blooming flowers, it IS liberating to find a happy medium. I'm not able to do as much gardening and yard work as I did years ago, but I've chosen what matters most to me, and continue to try to get outdoors and make a bit of progress as the weather allows. Have a great weekend Rosemary!
