Before and After Townhouse Vines

The vines that adorn this beautiful townhouse in winter let the beauty of the architecture shine through while still providing interest. via

The first spring blossoms are spectacular, aren't they, and well worth the wait. via HAPPY MAY DAY!

Beautiful with and without the flowers! Vines can be tricky. When we moved to the family farm, my father-in-law had just finished building a good sized arbor. Nothing had been planted around it. I was in a hurry to create shade, so I planted honeysuckle vines at each of the four corner posts. Well honeysuckle smells heavenly, but is grows like a weed--maybe worse. It requires tons of pruning, but it's worth it.

It is beautiful. Does anyone know what kind of vine/plant this is? Is this a townhouse in London?

I like the vine better without the flowers. Must be the minimalist in me. :)

lisa -- I tried to research the location of this beautiful townhouse and I believe it is in the Kew Gardens neighborhood of London. I have never seen wisteria this color so another reader might know the name of the climbing vine.

Linda Sand -- The vine in winter looks like lace on the townhouse. I am quite sure it takes a good deal of pruning to keep it under control. I live both views. I am not a minimalist but I admire those who are.

Pam -- I can almost smell your honeysuckle and your arbor must be delightful when the vines are in full bloom. It is labor intensive I'm sure but with very rewarding results in the nice weather when you need to be shaded from the hot sun.
