How in the world did black sheep get a bad name as in "the black sheep in the family" being a negative thing? This one is a beauty and he looks very proud of his black woolen fleece. xo

I suspect when you are raising wool for market, no one want's black wool as you can't dye it pretty colors? Those of us who like black clothing, though, would be pleased to have the color built in.
Every spring around Easter time we went to my uncle's farm (one farm over from us) and were allowed to bring a lamb home for a few weeks to have as a pet. I always picked the black sheep (befitting me somehow). lol What a sweet post. Happy Sunday to you- xo Diana

Yes, he's a handsome fellow. Black wool, from a black sheep, was originally considered undesirable because it couldn't be died.
