Making a Vestibule when There is None

I think this vestibule was added to a door that opens directly into the living room. What do you think.? I like it!

I like it too, Rosemary. I don't like walking directly into a living room area, especially when arriving home wearing wet shoes and raincoat, carrying a sopping umbrella. Too bad there wasn't room for a small closet or a standing coat rack.

I also like the glass windows. Less an "in your face" obstruction.

The arched glass in the front door with stained glass overhead (?) is beautiful. Difficult to see but I think that's stained glass--maybe not.

This is what makes a custom home so very, very unique. Rubber-stamped houses would never take the time or spend the money.

I once placed a couple tall bookcases with their backs to the living room to provide separation between the front door and the living room. I hung a textile on the back of the bookcases and placed a love seat under the hanging. It worked well.

I really like the way that is done with all of the glass and crown molding blending it in.

It would be great to have a small enclosed area like that to keep the freezing cold wind out and heat when we come and go. It would also work great to keep our Pomeranian from trying to run out the door when I am leaving to go anywhere.

This is a beautiful example of what can be done when space is limited.

So classic, classy and beautiful..... and I really love all that glass. Looks very English or NYC brownstone to me.
