Small Kitchen Island On Wheels

One of my friends bought a house over a year ago and she's still working on it. She wanted an island in her kitchen but didn't think she had room. I found this photo last week on Houzz and sent it to her. She loved it and is having her carpenter copy it. She has a small table and chairs for kitchen dining so she doesn't need an island with an overhang for seating.

What a great small kitchen. I would love to have this kitchen, but alas, it's not big enough for my house! I have a big, lovely, old house that my father left to me when he passed away, but it needs a lot of work. Old houses come with charm, but also lots of maintenance, and it's just too big for me. The problem is, I'm spoiled by immediate my surroundings. It's in a very nice area in greater San Francisco, California, and is the house I grew up in, so there is a strong emotional attachment. Help - I'm in serious need of downsizing!

lisa -- I know someone with a similar problem and she sectioned off part of her house and rents it out on Airbnb. She has had great success and very nice repeat guests, mostly business professionals.
I can understand your attachment to your childhood home. It might take a while but you will figure it out. You should at least invite several realtors over to give you a price opinion. You should be looking at smaller homes too. When you find something you love, the move will be easy. Small is the new big.
